My bastard's children are lowborn
So my eldest son is a bastard and I married him with a noblewoman, yet their first (and only) child was born a lowborn. Is this a bug or do I have to legitimize my bastard to fix this issue? I was planning to have him make his own cadet branch later down the line.

You do have to legitimize them for bastard children to become recognized members of your house OR their progeny. I do not know if you recognized them after the child was born if the child will remain 'houseless', get added to your house as part of the 'debastardization', or can ever formally be recognized. I am guessing that you did not have her as the dominant marriage partner or the child would have her 'house'.

I think you can still do it after the marriage though? Try rightclick your bastard and see if you find the option to legitimize them..? Im not sure but I would at least check.

I know you can legitimize them. Their children?.... I would suspect not, but I have never tried that.

Any children AFTER legitimization should be covered as house members but any from before legitimization...?

I can legitimize my bastard son, but his children cannot be legitimized. I can raise them to nobility but they will not be a part of my dynasty.

This is my experience also, would think we could just do it but sometimes I can't and I know the kid is mine. I wonder if it has to be widely known I have one? Most of them don't give me the option.

First, you have to be of a culture/religion that will let you legitimize bastards. Then it has to be a 'known' secret. You can expose that secret yourself if you know and want to. Last, I *think* you have to be head of house/dynasty - but that last one I may be wrong on.

Yeah I was thinking it might have to be known to everyone if you are going to do it. Seems 50/50 on everyone finding out anyway
