Plagues are so annoying

How do you disable plagues in a running game? I literally can't get a SINGLE DAMN DAY OFF OF PLAGUES. There's a constant "isolate your capital", "sickness event" kind of nonsense spam going on. There's literally not even a week without this nonsense and it's startign to really piss me off

I'm pretty sure that you can't change it mid-game. I haven't had a problem with them until my current playthrough, the plagues pop off constantly.

Hit a new game? I always put it to Very Rare and keep the one-time black death event. If you plan on ruling an Empire or really big Kingdom, you can consider turning the plague off completely.

That's the issue, I'm leading multiple kingdoms and the plague spam is absolutely messed up.. I don't "want" to make a new game as I spent a lot of time on this but the plagues recently are pissing me off so bad, is there no way to turn it off via savegame- file editing?

if i secluded every time a plague came by, my guy would never be out of seclusion. its a dumb mechanic very poorly implemented. it does nothing but bring annoyance while getting otherwise ignored.

Afaik there's a mod that allows you to change gamerules mid game.
Then there's also editing the savegame to change the gamerule.

I usually resort to the latter if I need to change a gamerule.

Never had a problem since the first day of the DLC. Turn them down.

I must play in the most obscure places or all these complainers play the same eath places. Because If anything, I rarely ever notice the plagues.

In like 3 out of 30 games, I maybe had one person die noticeable. I have not yet died directly from a plague as a player.

Make sure you have a compartment doctor. i almost exclusively have success with the doctor helping fight the plague. Like 2 times out of dozens did they fail eradicating it.

So, It's just crazy some have so many problems, guess they game ain't that easy, lol.

Meanwhile in my current game:
I can give plagues the biggest insult an enemy can suffer, to be ignored. ^^

I can even ignore the black death for the most part, atleast in my personally held land.

They're turned down to the lowest and I can't go a single week without a plague. My plague window is literally filled with stuff. I started in England, took over France and Spain and Italy. I can't play without constantly being spammed by those stupid, not really meaningful plague events (They mess your legitimacy up and cost a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and give debuffs to provinces). It's really beyond enjoyable at this point.

I turn that trash completely off. horrible mechanic, whoever implemented it in this state needs to be backhanded.

I'd rather not do the discord.
But easiest would be to use the savegame editor tool PDX-Unlimiter

Then in that load/Import your savegame.
Click the pencil/Edit Savegame on your savegame.
Then at the top of the new window click Jump To and pick Settings
Find the gamerule you want changed and change the setting of it.

I can't tell you the setting number as mods change it in my case.

Also I suggest making a savegame where you do have to correct setting to compare. So you know what to put in the textbox to change the gamerule.

You can turn them off. They are also not that bad to deal with IF you do not own half of Europe, or the equivalent. The people who complain about them the most are the people who want to paint the map. If you own the map any plagues that happen are going to be in your lands - there is almost no other place to host them.

You build up an entire continent in an era before medicine there are going to be plagues. The people who own entire continents are who asked for them - complaining about how slow their game becomes while they have dynasty trees of thousands, nearly that many courtiers, and more vassals, and vassals vassals (with full courts), than they can easily count.

You can't have it all. You can want to - but the engine simply will not cooperate. The raw calculations for each portrait bogs things down. The AI doesn't do the things you do. The AI, through ignoring their development & courtiers for the most part, doesn't need plagues to control their population and development. YOU do.
