Agree - I was hoping for equivalent naming standards for all of the historical Roman Empire cities and provinces. Like, I understand that they didn't have the same borders for Medieval duchies - but at least critically important cities and central province renaming.
It feels more fulfilling and it's a really simple design implementation.
FYI. I use a mod that allows me to reshape duchies. I can move counties from one duchy to another, assign duchies to different de jure kingdoms and even combine duchies/kingdoms in order to delete them. It may be "cheating" a little, but it makes perfect sense. If Byzantium were to reconquer the northern provinces for example, why would they not make the border at the Danube? Reshaping duchies along those ancient borders therefore isn't ahistorical in my opinion.
It would just be really cool if cities and provinces were renamed automatically as well.
