How to get the event for the 4th crusade to fire

I'm playing as Sicily and I'm trying to get the fourth crusade to fire so I can get the Latin Empire, how do I get the event chain to fire? I know it involves having an active Catholic crusade and then the event should fire to let you choose to divert your attention away from the Crusade target to the ERE but it's not firing, is there some other conditions I'm not aware of?

I see you have managed to figure it out, as you have the achievement. Did you find out what was the issue or just kept trying until it worked?

I changed the conditions on how many crusades need to happen beforehand before it can fire so I went back to 1066, had my first usual crusade that I usually redirect to Egypt instead of Jerusalem and then when the second crusade popped up thirty years later the event fired to split the crusade

Could you please point me a little into which file to edit? I have struggled to find the trigger.

It would be nice to have a new start date in the 1200's in chapter 4, this way we could play it from the get go.

Its not someting impossible we may get a new start date in chapter 4 or the one after.

I got it by playing as John de Courcy in Ulster in the latest start date. I became an English vassal and I had high martial so the AI asked me to lead the 4th crusade. This was an event that fired after the Pope declared the original crusade sometime in the 1180s.
