HUGE LAG SPIKES MID GAME NOW
This game used to not lag like this with the same PC...

I-9 10900k
RTX 3090 FE
32gb wam
No mods
All DLC "plagues turned off"

The game runs smooth as butter but now that I own most of Europe as England i'm getting these 20-30 second freezes randomly. I do have over 200 vassals and 100k troops if it matters. I haven't taken the Balkans, Eastern Europe, Spain, Norway or Sweden yet. I do have all of modern France and half of Italy though.

When I fought the big purple blob for the first time, it was mostly frozen with 20-30 seconds of action until frozen again and I fought through that until the war was over. You could tell anytime the big purple blob had to move a bunch of units around the game would freeze but now even in peace time for me I keep getting these random 20-20 second lag spikes every few minutes.

I'm not sure what happened, maybe its the new dlc but this game wasnt this bad before. I took half the world over before noticing lag like this and honestly I dont ever remembering it this bad.

Not sure if there is anything I can do on my end. Not even sure if it CAN be fixed. Just doing my part in mentioning how much worse the game has gotten since the last time I played which was a year or two ago.

*and when I say frozen, its just the troop movements and any actions I take on screen. I can still move around, click anything I want, pages open up, everything works fine and is smooth. Its just that time stops and of course no troops move during these spikes*

You exit the game totally and start it up again. should work fine.

If you still experience lag, save the game (copy over all the other saves to the desktop or a new folder created), delete the autosaves and log back in again.

You will force the game to continue even with errors, nothing wrong with your system.
It is currently the way it is cause of the CK3 base game.

Thanks for the reply. I tried restarts but I get the same issue.

I'm a little slow sometimes... are you saying copy my latest save into a separate folder. Delete all the save files, then move my latest back into that folder and start the game?

Edit: or should I boot up the game with no saves once, then add my save back in after?

No don't worry, go into the game save the game you are currently playing.
With for example LATEST game.

Then exit and go back into the game, load that latest game. see if you still lag.

If lag issue are solved, continue onwards.

If lag issue are not solved, then copy all the other saves (except the one you are playing) including autosaves... to a folder outside of documents/paradox interactive/crusader kings III

Log back into the game, and load that latest save. and it should force all the freezing troops to move again.
But you have sadly a UPDATE wandering lords just released.
So they might have some issues...

Thank you. That makes sense. So just delete all saves except the latest save I want to play on. i'll back those saves up and give it a try. Much appreciated.
