RtP wasn't really hinted at in the past by the devs and it always felt like a dream that would evolve into a mod at most. I always refer back to Dev Diary #109 Floor Plan for the Future at the end of 2022, where they explain what the future of CK3 may look like. They drive home things like character focus and how they want to do certain mechanics better than its predecessor, CK2. This was also around the time they were saying "We want to bring players closer to the map.", (this was before Tours and Tournaments).
Dev Diary #109 also laid out a visual floor plan of CK3s future as they talked about Laws, Clans, Nomads, Imperial Mechanics, Trade and Merchant Republics, Religion, late game, and AI. Personally, late game is what needs the most attention. Legends of the Dead and RtP kinda touched on both late game and imperial mechanics. And alongside Tours and Tournaments, they all brought us "closer to the map".
With all that in mind I'm very curious for CK3s future and honestly have no idea where they will go from here.
And of course we all still want better crusades and compotent A.I.
PDX has been cleaning house and picking up their pants recently (delaying games, cutting games, grabbing Indie IPs) while the devs have been tinkering away at Cities Skylines 2 and Victoria 3 after their poor launches. Hell they even touched up Imperator earlier this year. Plus EUV is just over the horizon. Seems like this a potential turning point here for PDX and I'm hopeful that this is a return back to their roots. But we'll see
Charles Martel had competitors...Maybe able to play a more pagan briton? dunno.
Oh, I'd like that too, but we probably won't get it anytime soon. The earliest PDX will likely go back to is 769, like in CK2... it's a shame... my dream would be to cover the early Middle Ages, ideally the 6th century, or at least the 7th, but they'll probably add something in the late Middle Ages first.
