Aside that - yeah, kinda insane how many bugs and ridicolous bs there is in this game
There is literally a GAME RULE OPTION to turn conquerors off completely(same as plagues).
CK3: Let's add a Conqueror mechanic so a few people can blob real hard
But yeah you can disable it. I also found it more interesting when several players in a region have it, including the player. Makes it so the game doesn't end up being so one-sided in favor of the player.
You can also add the trait manually to selected AI players with a cheat mod. So it doesn't roll on 3 guys in asia where it doesn't concern you in europe.
The only thing that needs to be disabled is the additional great conqueror buff, because that one is what's really overpowered. Just the extra siege progress is crazy.
How could they do this too me. The humanity of it.
Though it breaks ironman, which doesn't really matter a lot anymore except for oldfarts like me who want to play Crusader Kings the "true" (subjective opinion, calm your pants) way.
Turning conquerors off doesn't disable achievements, if that's what you meant.
BTW the funny thing is, you can even use a mod to e.g. set the Ruler Designer point limit to let's say 4000 and still get achievements. It is only one legit change in the defines.
Thanks for telling me it could be turned off. It was a raging post but I stand by the reasoning even if the delivery was bad. It's just indicative of how they work now... It's an IMO and a huge one: but everything since the Norse DLC has been mostly good ideas, delivered terribly. Roads to Power seemed like a return to form for me, but every silver cloud I examine has a dung filled lining.
I've 'zero' problem with a win mode in a single player game but for me.. that was just silly. But then it's not just that one thing..
Those who disagree are free to of course and continue to enjoy the game.
Thanks
But stuff like this turns it 'into' a map painter. If all your vassals are cheering you, throwing money at you, encouraging and demanding you to blob - and the mechanics make it easy to blob as well, then that's exactly what they've made.
The description even says in game it's to 'conquer the world' There's even a penalty for NOT taking it. Have a read, that's what it wants you to do.
I was excited as anyone when it was going to be an 'RPG' game focus, I mean that. But you still need to gel it to the base game. The only role playing in this at the moment is being a god figure, which at least to me, isn't that interesting after ten minutes or so.
And there's been a lot of that in CK3: mechanics that have been thrown in with no thought of effort. The regency mechanic for example .. it's just awful imo and doesn't do the subject justice.
How we went from the mostly brilliance of CK2 to this is just tragic, really tragic. CK2 had some rough moments sure but nothing like the continual disappointments.
