That, or you love getting the same travel event over and over if you go the landless 'adventurer' route. You can adopt Administrative realm as any realm though i should mention, so it isn't 'just' Byzantine empire that affects perse.

So this DLC affects all other cultures too? I am asking cause I am not really interested in Byzantine empire but if all other culture can benefit it could change my point of view.

There is a decision to adopt Administrative government type yes, only need all your vassals to agree with it. That's what this dlc brings to the Byzantine empire, the other half of the dlc is the landless adventuring thing. So yes the administrative government isn't only locked to the Byzantine empire. I wouldn't say it affects all other kingdoms/cultures/empires...i never seen the ai adopt administrative, seems like a player only decision from my playthroughs.

Sounds better than expected. Do I need a new savegame or will things like administrative government work on old savegames too?

It works but you kinda want to hybridise with the updated version of Greek culture for the new traditions to get the most out of it and you'll have to start a new game to get those I think.

is it me or is the current mechanic of levies for the byzantine empire largely historically inaccurate for this faction???

It adds a game-play loop with Landless, that I can never play without again.

Not just because landless is fun, but because you don't just lose hours of time and your dynasty when you lose all titles.

Instead you build more story on why you lost those titles and what your dynasty does for there. Makes the game somewhat rouge lite, in a way.

I actually haven't played the admin, or byzantine flavor in over 100 hours of play with RtC.

It's the only DLC that is 100% must have. Solely because landless extends the game in a way never done before.

Probably wouldn't think about it too much. Ash'arism is the dominant form of Islam in 867 according to this game. Al-Ash'ari was born in 876. Never mind that it's not really an Islamic sect anyway; it's a school of theology/jurisprudence within Sunni Islam. We've also got Orthodoxy/Catholicism starting out schismatic when their schism's usually dated to the 11th century and we have Ismailism/Nizarism well before they actually split, also in the 11th century... to name a couple of things.
