How to destroy Byzantium

How to destroy Byzantium in the new dlc and update? Previously, you could just kill the emperor 3-4 times and over time Byzantium would fall apart. How to do it now? It's just that Byzantium is a real pain in my ass, Byzantium hinders me in every war. As soon as I declare war on someone, Byzantium immediately declares war on me

It's the same thing as CK2. Just defeat them at moutain and they will be in 200 years civil war.

In short, we need to defeat them in wars and they will fall apart?

If you get a strong emperor, the admin government system lets the Byzantines get pretty strong quite quickly. The empire can still fall apart though. I'd say it's been about 50/50 in my runs since the DLC: it either falls apart relatively quickly or becomes pretty damn strong for an AI realm. One solution to them attacking you's to buy truces if you've got the cash and they'll agree to it (I rarely have problems getting them to agree although I mostly do this with the Mongols... helps if they're strapped for cash). Could also get an alliance if you're the right religion (/grand wedding).

I wouldn't guarantee that repeated victories in wars will dissolve the empire (assuming these are defensive wars or you're generally not taking a lot of territory... take enough territory and yeah they'll collapse) but it could. It'll depend largely on which kind of faction initiates/wins the not unlikely civil war(s) after you weaken the current emperor. If it's a claimant, you might find the empire actually gets stronger instead of falling apart.
