They also will usually not come if you are hosting it in a plague location or if they have to travel through a plague location to get there. The travelling through plague lands is iffy though - I've seen them do it even after they're supposed to be better about AI pathfinding.
I have also seen my initial count for guests be zero - and then later change as the date gets closer - like the people in my own court hold off until the last minute to accept the invitation and the timeframe was set to allow people from halfway across the map to reach the event (who decline or couldn't attend for one of those reasons).
Absolutely. If your religion is not actively hostile to or shunning witches, they take off like a religious sect of their own once you get a coven started. The difficulty is getting one started, not 'keeping the ball rolling'. Not certain how the education in witchery threads, but concubines, other family members, and other people you have directly added to a coven seem to be able to create additional members by conversion, event, and education.
Just a random idea, but you didn't drop below the requirements for a coven by death(s) or heir change did you?
Okay, that didn't change, but your designated heir and at least 4 living adult children are still all witches?
Hey, my fix was to personally out a witch that I knew of.
I think from now on I'm going to always expose my hairs as witches, then make sure to convert at least a few witches as THAT SPECIFIC new heir.
That seems to fix the issue for me
