Crusader Kings III

View Stats:
I lose every single board game with no exception.
Even if my skill (e.g. Learning) is at 100, and the opponent's counter-skill is at 0, I always lose, no matter which options I pick.

My military genius king with near maxed-out stats keeps losing board games against tribal toddlers with no skills whatsoever.

So far I have not won a single board game, no matter whom I challenged, be it a child, a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ or a demented lunatic freak.

How does this make any sense?

Can't say I've had such an issue. I normally just spam the option that uses my highest stat, and it works out more often than not. I don't get the impression that stats are overwhelmingly important to your chance of success or failure, although I'm not intimately familiar with the script behind the board game.

Every time someone challenges me, I always win. Every single time I challenge anyone else, I always lose. No exception.

Ah, that makes a lot more sense then. Board Game "duels" only last a certain number of rounds. If no one has won by a certain round, "Sudden Death" kicks in, and the defender wins by default, if I understand the script correctly.

In my experience, Sudden Deaths occur pretty often, so the Defender has a massive advantage.

pretty much this
Pretty sure it doesn't care how high the skill is only that it is the counter to yours or theirs, rock paper scissors but with more flavour.

Ja, if you are not wiping them in the rock/paper/scissors match there's no way you are going to win when you are the instigator.

Looking at their stats will give you an indication of how they might play/choose, or at least start with, but is no guarantee.

I thought the event that pops up indicates exactly what to do. Might be a mod that is adding it, but when they say well adaptive strategies, they are doing military, anything with a trick or plot is intrigue, and anything that has by the book or is about old techniques is learning. Intrigue > Martial > Learning > Intrigue

When you challenge someone you can respond to their first action, when you are challenged you start first which might allow them to counter you.

I think the event popup tells you what they did last round, as well as the outcome, and you just have to guess for the next round. If they telegraph it that would kinda make the match pointless.

I have had multiple challenges where I counter what they did and it states I foiled their technique, and multiple where I have had to use all three options doing so. No idea how it is actually programmed, but that's what I have noticed.

Then either you have a mod or got lucky. I have no mod for it and only see the results. There is some flavor text before the first move, but it was 'pensive pout' and diplomacy should not be a draw for that... I think. There is a line at the end, which I have found to be just a reading of their last move, not the coming one. Sometimes they are repetitive with their choices, but sometimes not.

The flavor text changes depending on how they feel about you though. It also varies through stewardship for some games, making all 4 skills used (but only three at a time).

I just tried it again with your 'word strategy'. The first two rounds were a draw and I lost the next three... and the match. :)
