Will I get another offer if I decline liege council position offer?
Hi.

I got quite low intrigue and my character really isn't very intrigue focused.
My liege kind of hates me with -40 opinion.
My liege offered me to become his spymaster.
His offer seems random as my liege already has somebody better in that position and they like each other more with -20 opinion. What gives?
Should I decline?
If I decline, will I get another offer, maybe for a different council positions that my character has higher skill in?

Hilarious, why wouldn't you accept? Super easy to kill him if you're his spymaster, marry off to like their 3rd son or something then kill the others

He's my friend! I won't kill him! :steamsad:

Also the other reason is I know from CK 2 that when you are somebody's councilor then you actually get some tasks and if you fail them due to low skill, you get some potentially nasty side effects. Not sure how it is in CK 3.

Aside from the fact that it would go against my character's wishes as I see them. He got no interest in intrigue. :)

The main thing I want to know is if my liege will possibly ask me again potentially with a different position offered or if declining closes that door for that particular character and liege combo.

I'm pretty sure it's random or 90% of the time trolling the player. I get Marshal all the time even if I'm running some sort of noodle arm tall campaign. I personally think the ai is just trying to fill positions and you were the highest powerful vassal in this particular stat.

It won't ask you again unless there is another later opening. However, if your liege is at least a king, then you do have the option to decline a position you don't want and then petition for a council position. I'm not sure you get to choose which position you get however...

Edit: I do believe this requires Royal Court though perhaps... I can't remember what is and isn't DLC anymore.

Yeah I got the option to petition for that now since I'm now a Duke.
Will try it later. I got bigger problems right now lol. The Pope randomly excommunicated me. >:(

You probably would not hold the spymaster position (or any position) very long because AI lieges give their vassals hooks like candy and vassals use them to alter their feudal contract to force guaranteed council positions.

This means that even when you accept the council position you get kicked out in a month because there are many vassals with guaranteed council position feudal contract.

It is impossible to hold council position without your feudal contract having the same option.
And remember you have to force the council position because if you accept your lieges offer it is not protected by 25 years.
You always have force position or you get kicked out by other vassal who uses force position.

Always try to get steward position if you can (for the extra gold income). Or spymaster if you are feeling murder hobo waking up inside.

Good to know.

I read that the spymaster position gives 30 natural dread, which is kinda nice by itself tbh.
But I declined the original offer and then went to his court and my character asked to become his Marshal, which is interesting because my char had slightly higher Sterwardship but a Martial Education trait. So I assume that the education trait dictates what your char asks for.

Also my liege asked the Pope to lift the excommunication and it worked. I still killed the Pope a few months later. Everybody hated him anyways. :D
