1453 end date
just curious if most people here try and play to this end date or just quit and move on to another game once they have completed whatever goal they set themselves?

After 20 games I am now getting close to the end date (under 100 years) for only the second time but since I got below 99 years left the AI seems to be doing everything and anything possible to ensure I don;t complete them with my empire intact. I've not painted the map or anything but this constant battle to stay one step ahead real is taking the joy out of what has been my best run to date. Yes I know its meant to be hard and just venting in this paragraph lol!

Keep going! You're within sniffing distance! Which country are you?

What year did you start? I've not played to the end date but I intend to someday. Maybe start in 867 as an African or Norse leader and take it from there. No map painting, just carve a nice corner of the world to play with the neighbours from 😁

thanks - i started in Ireland and my original plan was to vassal to england, go feudal, be a good vassal and build tall. Somehow ended with with the kingdom of Ireland and then over time england and wales and a few odd counties from marriages etc. Made my own unique Empire and them got land in most contents including a few kingdoms and another empire (Francia).

So not technically tall and wide but have about 320 counties across most continents so will see it through to the end just to say I got to the end date lol.

Was just curious to see if everyone tries for the end date or generally cut it short once their main objective is done and if I'm just having a run of bad luck or if the AI make sit difficult for everyone n the run in lol

My next project will be Iceland in 1066 which I read is hard but it will be fun to try still

I brought the game with the goal of doing a Count to Emperor play through (which there is an achievement for) - I selected a tiny province in West Africa, early start, restarted a few times as some neighbours would get Kingdom sized faster and really crush me, had a Matri-lineal succession, created my own religion - finally made it to Emperor, was a great 100 odd hours experience.

Here is a screen shot when I realise a Granddaughter has married a Euro-Prince and snaked Feudalism a few years before all my hard work paid off :)

sadly achievements are turned off on this run but still doing it for myself just so I can say I did it at least once lol - only 43 more years to go now :)

I tend to achievement-hunt mostly, so I did it once for the achievement, and never again. I got close doing a Mother of Us All run when I was significantly worse at the game, but I ended up conquering Africa with about a hundred years left still, if I remember correctly.

Assuming you're going for a quite lofty goal, starting in 1066, it certainly plausible that you could hit the end date. However, it's pretty much never going to happen naturally from the 867 start date. When I did my Lingua Franca run, starting from 867, I had conquered 80% of the world by the time the achievement popped in 1099.

I wanted to keep on playing till the end of the game and move the save state to europa universalis to conquer the new world, but I had so many issue with the game I had to put that off twice and then eventually I just gave up.

I've gotten to the end date a few times, kinda wish they would make a EARLIER start date, or hell why not a later End date that takes us into early EU4....

Yeah yeah yeah "MODS"
cause the Dev team has a vision....

under 20 years to go now so can almost feel the end while at the same time waiting for the AI to do a massive vassal uprising right at the end lol
