Won a crusade- now I'm playing as my beneficiary
So I won a crusade, my beneficiary got made King of Jerusalem, and I''m now playing as him, but I don't want to. I wanted to continue as my uber-powerful Emperor of Francia. I''m playing ironman. It's completely ruined my game. Is there any way I can go back to being the emperor without disabling achievementt?

And there are no decision that you get popup screens from, you get a notification in the top if you've set the decision as such. You play as jerusalem by forming the kingdom from it's de jure like all other kingdoms, the only 3 decisions that involve jerusalem is: Mend the great schism, Form the outremer empire and restore israel.

Incorrect, I've done plenty of Ironman crusades and if I chose to favour my beneficiary and got "1st place" in the crusade I got the option to switch every single time. You probably either didn't pick/favour beneficiary or didn't contribute enough warscore in any of your crusades to get the option.

Sounds like you've lost every single crusade then, ouch!

You absolutely do get a pop-up after a successful crusade asking if you want to play as your crusade beneficiary who now has land in whatever place was fought over. Ironman makes no difference at all. If you were the top contributor that would be as king/queen, otherwise duke or even count. That's the easiest way to become king/queen of Jerusalem.

Sure, if you dont Play with Ironman, but then he does and like i just quoted, ironman disables character switching

Except it doesn't disable switching to your beneficiary after a successful crusade as multiple people in the thread attest, your trolling is weak :P

If sharing your experience is trolling... But like i said.. I have never gotten an option to switch while I was playing with ironman on, and I have multiple game files i could share if it's really necessary.

Ironman disables character switching as in the Esc Menu "Switch Character" option.

Well like someone that you kept disagreeing with already told you, maybe you never won a crusade ;)

I suspect that you simply never favoured your beneficiary since the UI for it is a bit weird. In any case, multiple people also playing Ironman are now explaining that your interpretation of your experiences is incorrect, I recommend you listen :)

Wrong. I've played nothing but ironman and I still get the option after a crusade.

Is it possible that the switch to beneficiary is disabled if you're the head of your faith then? After googling a little i can see some other posts claiming you guys are right, but I can't understand how I'm not getting that option then and the only thing that is a constant for my experience is that I've been the head of faith while I was doing crusades.

Guys.. it's fine you disagree but I think I'd have noticed if i was loosing all the crusades, especially the games where i conquer most of the world and use it as often as possible so I can't really take that comment seriously.

Never tried being head of faith but it does sound like something that might conflict, considering you normally choose between your own beneficiary or the one preferred by head of faith

Pretty much. They're not really crusades. Catholic crusades (or any other religion with a separate spiritual head of faith) allow you to select a beneficiary for the titles won after the crusade and allow you to play as them.

Great holy wars launched by a temporal head of faith, such as islamic Jihads or any holy wars by a custom faith where you're the head of faith should just give the land directly to the one declaring war. So there's no beneficiaries or even build up to the war starting with people choosing to join and selecting who in their family they want to get the land.

IIRC the official terms are "undirected great holy war" for the former, and "directed great holy war" for the latter. The option to switch only exists for the undirected ones.

I still get to pick a beneficiary though, typically I get a small amount of the land directly and the rest is distributed evenly amongst the participants.
Guess i learned something new, and most likely you're right if he was playing a Christian nation
