As long you have all the DLC containing inside that chapter/royal edition.
You then just have to purchase something on steam to get the FREE clothing packs. (so something worth 1 dollar or something, or when you purchase the next DLC click on the Free clothing pack to download it.
So you can take all your time waiting for sales to collect your complete EDITION with all the FREE goodies.
So you won't be left behind no matter what you do. if you want to wait for sales wait for it.
If you want just stuff inside Royal Edition now cause you can't wait anymore.
Go ahead. so nothing is left behind for people who want to vote with their wallet.
Or doesn't prepurchase Chapter packs.
And you get the free royal edition clothing pack.
So sadly you have to do it in 2 stages :(
Then just wait for the sale, we just had one major PDX sales ...
So wait for the next one with Roads to Power...
most of the stuff are given for free anyway to base game.
if you want to buy the royal edition it is 75 Euro ... but if you buy the main game.
And later on want to upgrade it is way more expensive, since you have to buy everything seperatly...
But my recommendation is to wait for a sale, and just buy the Royal edition,
if you like the game you can then continue on with collecting.
if you don't like it, then just refund or put it aside.
(which you can do now with royal edition the same story)
A Package is a one-time, all-or-nothing deal. You cannot complete a package; you either buy it or you don't.
A Bundle, meanwhile, can be completed piecemeal, and you'll get a scaling discount based on how many items in it you already own, if you ever decided to click the "Complete Bundle" button, and buy the remaining content all at once.
"CK3: Royal Edition" is a Package. As such, you cannot complete it later for a discount; it needs to be all bought up front.
CK3: Complete Collection, meanwhile, is a Bundle. However, it includes all DLC, unlike Royal Edition, which only included the first few.
There used to be a CK3: Chapter 1 bundle, which included all of the contents of Royal Edition, but as a Bundle instead of a Package. However, it was removed after the Chapter 2 bundle was released, which itself was removed when the current Chapter 3 bundle was put on sale.
Supposedly, Steam limits the number of Collections (Bundles and Packages) a developer can provide for their game, so only Royal Edition, Complete Collection, and the current expansion pass chapter are ever available.
Btw.. Steam should omit stuff you already own when you add packages/bundles to your cart and select "purchase for myself". But...verify because I'm not 100% sure. Sometimes you get a slightly better discount when doing this; for whatever reason... (just speaking of steam games in general)
(except for Xcom collections... Xcom2 packages acts weird, because of how Firaxis combined their DLC's together and delisted the original DLC's. So gotta be careful when dealing with Xcom2 stuff).
