Family Death Stress Cascade
So I've heard people mention this is the comments before, but I never encountered it in the wild until now. I am playing my first character, and I have 13 adult children (thank you, concubines). My wife has been ailing for some time, and I figured she would die in the current year of my game. She did, and it started a stress cascade among all my children, who started all dying of stress, which caused each other more stress, which caused them to die of stress.

A month later I have 2 living children out of the 13. I tried to reload to an earlier save, but my wife is in such poor health there is just no saving her, and each time she dies the stress cascade starts.

This is definitely a design flaw that needs to be fixed somehow. This would just never happen in real life.

Well, fear not! Devs got a new feature introduced to the game. Plagues.
Now you can encounter those stress induced death waves even more often! Yay.

I'm pretty sure any resemblance between the game and real life is purely coincidental. The game is constantly trying to wipe out you and your family/lineage and the object is to survive those attempts. They keep inventing new and novel ways to kill you and your family -

they call those DLC's and we pay good money for them.

The amount of stress involved in a death of a close member of the family is a little to high and with the new plague mechanic it is common to loose more than 1 family member during plagues, and this does need a look at and a revamp or just strait up nerf to stress.

Play the Dark Ages mod and you'll be lucky to keep just a few children alive and well.

Heres what I do. Download the stress reducer mod. It allows you to remove stress across your whole house and family. When it looks like you might spiral, remove stress from your whole house.

I had to fight with it too. Its super annoying when you have 30 kids LOL

There's a mod that gives you a 'mourning period' when additional deaths don't add extra stress. I like the balance because I do think deaths should be quite stressful, but it avoids that ridiculous death cascade. There's different versions, but the two year version has worked fine for me. Usually by then the AI has found ways to lower their stress.
I also have mods that remove the child cap, so if I play as a man it's not unusual for him to have several dozen children by the time he dies at eighty. When the first of his children begin to die of old age, that would cause literally all of them to go down, and then many of their children would start to die of stress. It's just little balance things like this that would be fairly easy to patch, and I don't know why Paradox doesn't do so.
