Dumbest comment I've seen in Steam Discussions all day
Agreed. And none of the three previous replies had anything to offer either. Whatever happened to people who brought historical context to forums?
Thanks!
I just would rather see people posting about history, in a history-based game, rather than what we're getting there. And no one is saying what is "game balancing" about only allowing either one OR the other, when it creates a historically inaccurate and weird setting. I would hope the game would try to strike real history, whenever possible.
So while the medieval islam was very strict about marital and extramarital sex, it also allowed sex and procreation with slaves. For better understanding, you may want to read up the Abbasid Harem[en.wikipedia.org].
This has nothing to do with our modern concept of marriage and polygamy.
Additionally, if you read up the List of Abbasid Caliphs[en.wikipedia.org], you can see the vast majority of those born by the mid-9th century and beyond were mothered by concubines, usually from faraway lands.
Certainly no inbreeding danger there.
For example, Caliph Al-Mutazz's mother (the guy in charge in the 867 start date) was allegedly a concubine from Greece.
None of this is even remotely represented in the game.
Going by the direction of recent DLC, probably never will.
You could actually make a mod for a special polygamy where you have, let's say 4 wives and 100 concubines allowed. But then all the wives will go mad about blaspheming the marriage with concubines.
So you also need to write special exceptions for all the love, adultery and marriage opinion stuff. Not good for compatibility with other mods.
And then you still had the problem of getting those concubines you wanted. Unlike CK2 where you could simply request concubines from any court allowing the practice.
