...No, you cannot turn them off. Ever looked at the game settings?
https://ck3.paradoxwikis.com/Game_rule
Minor Diseases can be set to "Fewer"
Plague Frequency can be set to "Very Rare"
And that's it. Only the actual Black Death (Bubonic Plague) can be turned off.
Ingame with minimal settings, this still means that all of my started games had something like pox or flu epidemics spreading through the realm within 1-2 years. So you can't even build a single hospice (which does nothing until late medieval upgrade levels anyway)
Yes you can, workshop and turn it off. Easy as that. Its literally 430kb download and off they are. So yes you CAN TURN THEM OFF. Yes I think I have looked at the game settings, you ever think before throwing around misinformation?
Turning diseases off is not intended by the devs.
I would have to agree with the other guy that using mods to change things is not really the same as an in game option. While it is doable and probably easy its still not an in game mechanic
Is there an easy way to turn off plagues? Yes.
Of course it counts. Devs obviously didn't care if you turn them off.
Of course it is an in game mechanic. What do you think is going on? It is turning off a setting.
As for lethality, I haven't had any major issues with it being lacking or too severe. Yeah, sometimes Measles decimate several of my kids, and I have to play as my brother instead of my perfect heir I was cultivating. That's the intent, though; your plans don't always turn out perfectly. When you cultivate and spread your dynasty, as you should be doing anyway, you're never going to lose a game because of bad RNG.
If I had to guess, I would say there's a large overlap between the "nerf plagues" and "disinherit all children but your main heir" crowd. Bunch of minmaxers who should either learn to handle succession, or just download the "Primogeniture from the start" mod and stop trying to lobby the devs to ruin everyone else's experience by making the game even easier than it already is.
Plagues are broken in CK3 I turned them off with a game setting. Still get Ironman
