Reconquista Achievement will not fire
I am looking for help in figuring out why the Reconquista achievement won't fire in my current playthrough.

* I started as one of the Jimenez brothers in 1066. I am now the Emperor of Spain. Through vassals, I have de jure control of all of Iberia (including Barcelona) and it is all Catholic.

* The cultures are various Iberian cultures plus Andalusian in the south, but my ruler is and have always been Castilian.

* At the moment, one of my Iberian vassals is engaged as an ally in a liberty war between the king of Aquitane (a vassal of mine) and one of his vassals. There are no on-going wars over any issue in Iberia itself. There is no crusade ongoing at the moment.

* I took the decision to unite Spain, thus eliminating the kingdoms of Leon and Galicia. Also, I have not created Portugal. Could this be the issue? I control all of the relevant counties though. (I cannot re-create Leon or Galicia, since they "have no de jure counties" according to the game text.)

Looking at the pause menu under Achievements and filtering for "Possible Achievements", I now see that Reconquista is not on the list for achievements possible in the current playthrough... So it does not seem to be a bug - but where did I go wrong?

I appreciate any help or suggestions!

No crashes, but I have left the game and reloaded it many times. (My current playthrough stands at about 80 hours now I think.)

Dunno if they fixed it, but earlier if you ever quit out of the game, it bugged all achievements from activating

Update: I have restarted to try and reproduce the non-firing of Reconquista. I started as Sancho, king of Castille, and have now taken the decision "unite the Spanish thrones" after beating both my brothers in wars over the thrones of Galicia and Leon. The Reconquista achievement is still listed as "Possible" in the achievements list. (This is true of the Sibling Rivalry achievement too, by the way, which also did not fire in my main playthrough although I fullfilled the achievement description of starting as a Jimenez brother and becoming Emperor of Iberia.)

I have tried the following steps one at a time, and the achievements are still Possible:
1) Quit to Main Menu and reloaded the game
2) Quit to desktop and reloaded
3) Quit to desktop, restarted Steam and reloaded
4) Quit to desktop, restarted computer and reloaded

Will update again once I kill off Sancho to see if that's where the problem lies...

So Sancho is dead and my son inherited my lands and wars. I went through the same four steps as in the previous post to troubleshoot, and both achievements are still available.

I guess I will keep playing to see if I can identify where it goes wrong.

There's a few islands just off the eastern coast you need too. Might be worth checking if you have them. I know that's what caused me a bunch of confusion when I get this one.

Thanks for the tip! I have full control of those islands though.

I have the achivment still available to get but I created the empire of castell, all the kingdoms inside it, and took control of all the lands that should be in the empire. didnt get the achivment but the game is still saying its available

reconquista achievment is also about the religion, not just the territory. all the lands must be christian.

the sibling rivalry achievement specifically requires you to hold empire of hispania after starting as one of the jimena siblings. you don't need full control of iberia. and it's not only the brothers - their sister countess urraca also works. that's how i got that one

to hold an empire but to form an empire you need need of the land there in spain so you do need to hold almost all

I don't think it was forming Portugal either, I got the reconquista achievement by starting with the Portugal guy and I got the Portugal achievement along the way and all was fine.

If your achievement was no longer in the list of possible achievements (and you didn't unlock it either) then I don't know what's going on. Maybe your save was old and didn't take well to the recent updates? Maybe the game unlocked the achievement but steam didn't? This happened to me before the first patch came out where I played to 1453 and in CK3 it unlocked the achievement but not in steam. I was furious because the last 150 or so years were seriously tedious af but when I reloaded the "game over" save the steam achievement triggered on the 2nd try.

All my counties are Christian - that's the main point of the achievement after all.

And regarding the Sibling Rivalry: I started as a Jimena brother and now hold the empire of Hispania.

That is what I believe happened. I did indeed start the playthrough before the recent updates, and I cannot find anything else that is different between my failed attempt and the test run I am conducting now.

Anyway, I think I will give Iberia a rest for now and go hunt some other achievements. Thanks everyone for your comments!
