Being friends with liege is great
I became friend and then best friend with my liege, the emperor of byzantine and now he's granting me council positions, offering guardians for my kids, granted me land numerous times when he was far from reaching his domain limit and just now i got 414 gold as a gesture of friendship.

This is great. If this keeps up i won't be fighting for independence any time soon if my liege keeps spoiling me. Lol. I wonder if there are more benefits to it.

Alternatively you can just right click your liege > Change Feudal Contract, up your levies 1 tick and click 'Demand Council Rights' - and for me that ensured my player character has the rights to pick a slot.

but yes, being friends with the liege is a good method too.

I have no idea why I could do that, if it was a bug or intentional, or if my starting ruler had a hook on the liege or whatnot, but it worked.

Yea, i can't change my Feudal Contract rn. My liege apparently already changed it. He up'd my Tax Rate and Lowered my Levy Contribution. I'm fine with that, tbh.

One problem I have noticed in several games is that the AI doesn't notice when a human vassal gets too powerful. So a human duke of one duchy in a kingdom might get the duchy title of duchy #2. The King or Emperor liege will transfer over the dejure county vassals in that new duchy to the player. Then duchy #3 then duchy #4. Maybe it is calculating on how to keep the human player happy, avoid the "desire XYZ county" penalty.

I don't know what could fix this. Maybe a mod where the liege stops helping the human player when the human player is 60% of the power of the liege.

Intentional, that you can make a change like that. One positive change for one negative change (as you did), and you can do it again each time your ruler dies and you get a new ruler. If you have a hook then you can get one positive change, and use the hook instead of a negative change.

Damn OP, nice amount of gold your liege gave you! :)

My liege keeps trying to give me a de jure vassal once every year - it's getting kinda annoying! :P I'm already marginally over my county limit and don't want another cos of the penalty, plus the vassal is not my culture or religion, and is an ambitious troublemaker.. Stop trying to give him to me dude!
