I've broken England, help!

I don't understand what i've done wrong here. I've somehow split england into two.
'Deira' is the starting kingdom my empire started with. I can't delete it or merge it into england.

How can I fix this?

When you create a new custom Kingdom title, the custom title becomes De Jure liege for the Duchies you owned at the time of creation. If you want England to be De Jure liege for the territories in Deira, you'll have to destroy the Deira title (should be a button that allows you to do that when viewing the title) and then reintegrate those lands into the Kingdom of England (this can be done either automatically, by waiting 100 years, or manually, by setting the right councilor task)

Thanks Kicky, I deleted Diera, had to retract it first!
The problem now is that (for some reason), Lancaster and Essex have decided not to be part of england, despite all other counties being inside it, I have no idea why.

Integrate title

First you need to have England as your primary title (cant be an empire) or you need to have a king vassal be England and have those two duchies.
This will start a 100 year countdown for the titles to be integrated into the title of England.
By using the councillor task of "Integrate Title" you effectively half the time for 1 duchy at a time, meaning it will still take you 75 years to integrate both.

No worries, you can check the progress by switching to the kingdom map overlay.
It should show the two duchies with scratched over colouring indicating it is being integrated into a different title than they are currently in.
By hovering the mouse over them in the overlay it will tell you how long they have until integrated automatically.

I can't seem to get this working right. I've given one of my vassals the kingdom of england and then every county that is part of Diere (the kingdom i'm trying to delete) after I deleted the title for diere. I saw the scratches before for diere before I deleted the title (it was spreading), I just can't seem to make it go the other way.

your mistake was to create a custom kingdom from the duchy/petty kingdom of deira (aka york). since england didn't exist at that point, the duchies became de jure part of deira and were removed from england.

the only way to revert that is to hold the lands of both kingdoms and wait for de jure drift (speed up with chancellor job). which is only possible if you don't hold an empire title. since you have the empire of britannia, the kingdoms below it won't de jure drift.

deira won't go away.

it's not a bad thing, though.

i always found it problematic to rule over the british isles with vassal kings because the king of england is so much more powerful than the kings of wales, scotland and ireland. by splitting england into two kingdoms you removed that problem.

in other words - don't try to fix it. the current situation is preferable.

Hmm, i've tried that but it doesn't seem to be working:
So, i'm trying now to remove the 'Diera' only from essex.

I've given my vassal, the dutch of essex and ALL earldoms within it.
Along with the Kingdom of England title. But they're not converting and my councillor says no valid targets to convert. Any ideas?
