My advice would be to not worry too much about building the most OP culture you can, that will get old pretty quickly as there are a few standouts, but instead just experimenting and getting into the RP of it.
You can always merge with other cultures at a later date to suit changing circumstances.
Also, there is a game rule or 2 that you can change, still keep Iron Man & Achievements, that will half the time restriction down from 50 years to 25, 100 years to 50. I think you can do it even more, but achievements turn off
