Please Remove the Legends of the Dead Map Table
I'm a bit weird and hate things changing for no reason. I really liked that we couldn't see past the edges of the map prior to this DLC and seeing all of the junk around it which takes me out of my map painting game fills me with silly amounts of rage.
I hardly know anything about coding and editing the text files is about all I can do on my own. It might be a bit of a long shot, but I would love any tips / help anyone can give when it comes to understanding what files I need to change and how so that the map table that doesn't zoom out any further than the edges like it worked prior to the update.
If anyone from PDX happens across this, hello! While the details look great and thematic, it's a bit hard to take anything on the map seriously with the context of it being an actual map and the visuals of seeing it on a table implying that I'm some childish prat playing pretend. I might actually be a childish prat playing pretend with this game, but I would prefer not to be reminded of that fact every time I zoom out to see how the world at large is doing. I would really love an option to pick between the older style and the newer one (preferably without the table texture at all, but I still prefer the older version to the newer one).

I just want the option to disable it. I much preferred the old one.

agreed.

one ting to pont out.

the far east side is uneven like it's ripped, then it has a deep crease in the paper par (isn't the map.) it used to fold, and has the other half missing.

Pretty sure you can turn it off right now. There's an option in
settings, graphics under the interface styling section called map table style.

Unless one of my many mods is borking this setting (which it could be, I'm running around 120 and many of them are not updated yet) all this seems to do is change the style of the table, not remove the table itself

New tables is annoying, cluttered while clipping into actual nations and you cannot zoom out to max without it tilting the map at an annoying angle.

Think of that setting like it is the HUD Style, it only changes a few things but does not remove the table itself.

Honestly, agreed. It is not immersive either if that was their goal, I could be playing as the Abbasid Caliph and zooming out to see the bible and some AI generated text about plagues in old English. You can probably somehow disable it by messing with files, but I don't know much about modding.

I second this. That table looks nice but is immersion-breaking. It should be optional.

Not all the time, just every few years if I'm not doing anything else in my realm, and every few decades when I think about it, and whenever my ruler dies or at the end of a particularly long play session. What's the point of being able to see beyond the borders of your own realm if you don't take advantage of it?

I personalny hate the new hair mechanics the most.

1+. Really not a fan of it and would like an option to disable it.

While I don't understand at all, the table breaking immersion, nor why you need to zoom out that far in your day to day experience in the game. Having an option to toggle it to the old version would be a simple solution. I personally really like the table, but that's me.

I'm actually surprised they already don't have the option since they have it for the UI theme.

For me it's all about the context. I think the table would look really good in a different menu, like say for legends if you were looking over the stories of your completed ones at a specific table in your court. Seeing a "real world" map with constant updates for troops, plagues, etc updating in real time just doesn't feel like it belongs in a medieval setting
Angel Mar 7, 2024 @ 9:16pm
But why doesn't it belong in a medieval setting? Tables with a map for planning routes and kingdoms, wars and soldiers were and are still used. That's sort of how I see the table, it's you, controlling your rulership through this map. Also it literally changes nothing, the map hasn't changed at all, so it being a "real world map" with constant updates is the same as it's always been. You can't even see the table unless you zoom quite the way out. I respect your opinion but I really don't understand at all, and think that if it bothers you this much, just stay zoomed in as the game was prior.
