What mod packs to run that are up-to-date that add in new flavor, events, important features?
What mod packs to run that are up-to-date that add in new flavor, events, important features? Is somebody keeping a running and updated collection that a new player can jump on?

I'd give it a few more days for the bigger mods to be updated to the newest patch. However a problem seen commonly with CK is that many mods are either outdated for a while or just never updated. Thankfully the community tends to add their own patches to mods. As for the collection, there is *technically* some that are for/around~ this update.

I tend to play CK3 Offline days before a patch and then a few weeks thereafter to give modders a chance to catch up. I literally unplug my internet when playing CK3 during this time. As for mods being updated or not, many mods run fine without an update.

To reply to what was above. I'm playing on the new patch with all the mods I have prior and, while I crash here and there on Load screens, that's not very abnormal but the game works fine 93% of the time. Also as for playing Offline, you can just tell Steam not to update CK, or just go offline on steam. Or turn off automatic updates. But to each their own.

I like RICE. The community flavor pack, and sensible families and my own mods.
(you create a family for a created character with a decision.)

People will mention VIET, but it's sooooo CK 2, and most the events just useless one offs. Too many "picking up one piece of gold." events which mean nothing.
RICE is much more solid (its still suffers from being a CK2 mod.) and focuses on adding flavor to cultures, so they are at least more immersive.

Do you have them assembled into a collection? What version of CK3 are you running them with?

I do not have any collection and I am running the latest update. Most of my mods are the highest rated ones, most of the QOL and such.

I say RICE and VIET are pretty good mods. CFP is a must.

EPE is good also, but it is slow to update a lot and if you are running other mods there are compatibility mods that you also have to wait on to update. I do not use EPE anymore because of this, I want to jump into a new game on a new update and not wait to play.

I have a collection:

Most of it is visual stuff, but Load order is important in the list. I do not have load order in the description just takes a lot to maintain. I might add a screenshot of the order.

Most of the main mods, in their own description tell you the order they want in the launcher.

I'm new to the game and I want to start out with all the major flavor and event mods for sure. I can tell this game has shortcomings to patch up compared to CK2. That is why I was asking for any ready to fly up-to-date mod collections that people are using.

So screenshots of the mod list and their orders would be great for a new player.

I posted screenshots of the load order in the description of my mod list.

When some of the other mods I use get updated to 1.12.x I will add them to my collection.

I will put it here for now, since Steam needs to verify the links, might take a while.

Thanks. That's helpful. I was sure there was some major mods that people were using that often lag behind the updates by a fair bit.

CFP usually updates same day as CK3 updates and then VIET and RICE follow a few days later.

When CK3 first came out, within the first year I was running a lot larger mod list. It got smaller over the years, either by modders going away and not updating or by CK3 getting better.

My mod list use to be around 40+ mods and now it is shrinking to around 16ish.

Also do you own any of the DLCs? Or are you running just base game?
JCourtney Mar 10, 2024 @ 8:17pm
I don't own the DLC yet, but I'm looking into buying it all if I can get hooked on the base game with mods.
Angel Mar 10, 2024 @ 9:37pm
I would recommend you start the game vanilla since you say you are new to it. You should never go into a new game with mods, unless the game requires them. But if that's what you want, then that collection will serve you well, though I'd personally put a few more QOL mods in.
