''TLDR: Avoid buying or wait until fixed
Paradox keeps on missing. They had a solid base in CK2 and instead of refining it or adapting it for CK3, they decided to get ''creative''. What they came up with falls short of anything they promised in the trailers and dev blogs.
- Legends disappear after 20-something years after being made. They don't require any specific actions unlike they did in CK2, essentially you pay once, and then wait for the map to be painted with ''your legend is spreading''
- More than half of the events that are supposed to increase legitimacy don't work, I've tried different events: tours, feasts, weddings, funerals, so on. Only feasts had an actual even that actually increased legitimacy.
- Legitimacy system in itself is ♥♥♥♥, you can have the same family ruling the kingdom/empire since the start of the game and some rulers will randomly start with legitimacy at max and others have it at maybe 1st or 2nd out of 5 levels.
- Plagues are nothing more than a nuisance and money sink for rebuilding efforts, and that's it. You'll see constant pop-ups ''Isolate yourself/capital'' each time any plague shows up on the map. (A simple fix to that would be to make this option become an event ONLY when the plague reaches your personal domain - Paradox, take notes)''
The legitimacy adds a new layer of complexity to maintaining power. Not too difficult really, as I've recently managed to reach stage 4 and 5 and keep it there for the last few generations, but it's something that makes it a bit more challenging and historically accurate when it comes to staying in power. I think it's a nice touch.
The Legends provides you with a chance to give your realm as a whole bonuses depending on how its developed, and something more to spend your gold on. They're really expensive, so I didn't start them until I felt I had a stable economy.
The free update that adds plagues I think is nothing special. It's more or less the same system that existed in CK2 and simply has you keep illnesses in mind. Like, watch for them so that your heir doesn't suddenly drop dead.
Certain lifestyle traits have also been updated to include the new stuff, like Enduring Hardships in the Oversee tree for Martial now also gives you +5 Plague Resistance.
Unfortunately, as always, the update added bugs and there are events that need to be fixed to work properly. It'll certainly be taken care of as time passes, and Paradox is clearly micropatching in order to fix stuff, but it's annoying anyhow.
Lol.... The Penis Inspector got covid twice.
Rate: I had fun/10
Well, if you got the mRNA gene therapy, I'd put money on you getting 'covid' or another flu-like illness once or twice every year for the rest of your life.
But as far as natural immunity, I had covid back in '19 before they were testing for it. I know because I'd never been that sick before and tested for antibodies a year later. Then I tested positive again in 2023 after it was going around my workplace, but I can only recall having a slightly itchy throat one afternoon.
Point is, immunity doesn't mean that whatever causes the illness dies on contact with your body, it just means your body is now equipped to fight it.
And historically, we never used to consider someone 'infected' if they did not have any symptoms, and the only way to determine their infection was by of use nasal swabs that were sterilized with cancer-causing agents.
But I admit, times have changed.
Just want to point out that this was confirmed to be a bug and they last much longer since the patch yesterday. I currently have a level 3 legend (max) that I completed near game start and it has lasted over 100 years so far. It is receding but I'm guessing it will fade completely between 125 - 150 years.
Completing a Mythical Heroic Legend gives you the 'swear fealty' CB for 15 years which is basically 'forced vassalization' on steroids.
A third of the prestige costs and no realm size limitation makes it pretty easy to conquer everything.
Well very honest of you. yeah I say the DLC isn't that bad, if it entice me to upgrade all my mods.. or the mods that have been abandoned by people that I used since 1.92.
So I like it, but I understand people might not cause of the price content issue for supporting this product line.
