What makes a good tutor?
So I've played this extensively, doing pretty much the same thing as I did in the previous iteration. Then I came up with a thought, and that is the question on what makes a good educator for children? I've always tried to pair the children up with an educator who has a high skill in the preferred education focus. But this still seems like a lottery at times, I can have hired tutors with well above 20 points in the skill and the child still grow up to be a dope. While having children who I have intentionally set aside to grow up without anyone to educate them, and all of the sudden they pop up with a high education trait and a skill to match. So what makes a good educator? Do they have to have the learning skill themselves too, to be useful?

I think a 4 star education matching the education of the child, high stats and no negative traits. I think high learning might be a good all rounder, your wife usually does a good job but I tend to marry a genius

there's a guide in the guides section that goes over the mechanics of tutoring, it's one of the highest rated so search for it that way

The short answer is the education traits makes no difference to education other than to boost the skill of the tutor.

So the tutor should have High learning skill first then the skill you wish your child to learn and these can be boosted further by the tutor being quick, intelligent or a genius. Depending on the guide you read, actually having the genius trait supersedes everything else and should be the first and foremost trait in all tutors.

Also your spouse if they have high learning can boost education in your child.

There is also a fair degree of RNG involved in the process too as I've had the same genius tutor create 3 star children but usually they are 4 star educated.

In CK2 it used to be if you chose someone with high learning skill the kid would become a scholar unless you swapped the tutor out for your desired education trait just before they turned 16. Now they let you select the desired education trait at the age of 6 and you just need someone with a high learning skill to educate them regardless of their actual trait.
