How long does the game take for you to start?
Just curious, no hate.

By start you mean starting from the launcher and clicking continue or from clicking new game? Let's find out... Right, if the former then about 40 seconds (also the game I'm continuing's in about 1300 starting in 867... no idea if that'll make any difference. Let's see... yeah hitting continue in the launcher with a save from 867 takes about 12 seconds) and if the latter... about 8 seconds. Also not sure if the 40 seconder took longer cos it was my first load of the game in a while.

Thanks for letting me know. I guess somethings wrong with my settings then. Loading this game up to get to the main menu takes several minutes for me.

Are you using an SSD? This is a new pretty spiffy computer but my old one didn't take several minutes either.

I never actually timed it but it should be around a minute or two on my SSD. I switched from HDD because it took WAY too long to launch.
sadly i timed it today since i have game on HDD . it takes 4min to load into the game . I can move the game to my SSD since game is not big in terms of size. But its just 1st load. if i quit and try to reload its take for some reason really under 1min . i guess for some reason it keep something . 1st time always 4min . once is loads its run smooth since i have 3080 and powerful CPU . but loading takes time . i am sure on SSD it will cut to 1-2min . but dont mind just checking emails and stuff while it load

In terms of starting date i always like 867 not 1067 whatever game say. i like extra 200 years since its give me more gaming time and prob more control on how to develop

I run on an NVME drive, fastest one i could get 1 year ago. Depending on which category you test, this is between 3 and 100 times faster than a traditional SSD (typically around 5-10 times faster, bottleneck is your CPU for some things).

It is surprisingly long even with that, mostly a black screen for some time untl the loading screen shows up. Though i also run the rather extensive EPE mod.

Not sure if anyone else noticed this, but CK3 keeps running suspiciously long after closing the game, even with all Cloud Save features disabled (ingame and on steam).
Probably some extensive "phone home" data transfer going on.

Yes your computer keeps everything in the RAM cache, unless you fill that up with something else.

That's why the first game launch after a "cold boot" takes multiple times longer than quitting and reloading during the same Windows session.

And the more memory you have the better this works, example with 64GB RAM you can have several games like CK3, Stellaris etc in the cache.

That's 49 to 52 seconds for me on 10 runs done right now for this purpose. I have it installed on a SSD and run 22 mods including the big EPE and CFP.

On HDD with mods can take literally 5-10 minutes to get to the main menu.

On SSD maybe 1-3 minutes.

Game (with couple mods) start from launcher to main menu 15 seconds. Main menu loading saved game 10 seconds. Game is installed on to Corsair MP400 NVMe.

on my 10 yo Win10, PC?
an AMD 220watt FX 9590 w/ a AMD 580 Armor...
16gigs Ram (don't remember the DDR... probably 3.)

...about 2-4 minutes.
but I have the game installed on a mechanical HDD.

I need a new PC... but I don't want to pay for it.... or bulld it..
(man, I hate dealing with window drivers or cable management....)

Same. It changes significantly with mods and depending on what mods (a total conversion like game of thrones of shogun usually takes significantly longer than only "regular mods"),
Not a black screen tho, usually it hangs in the main splash screen loading before the menu.

And yes, it used to do the same with the game pass version so I'm doubtful it's anything related to steam either (I also have cloud saves off as well).

[edit]
Forgot to quantify, it usually takes a couple minutes with the playlist I'm running now (which is 20-30 mods and no conversions).

The initialization time is straight up unacceptable. From launcher start to game resume or new game, it's over 5 and even sometimes 10 minutes. It rivals what GTA 5 online load times used to be.
