Got myself made regent of my liege; Kidnapped him; But i didn't become regent?
Basically i befriended a dude who somehow became my liege after a couple years. Then i asked him to make me regent - he did it. Then i kidnapped him and put him in my prison but we didn't enter in a regency.. is this a bug? When my liege is rotting in a prison, why doesn't he enter in a regency?

May your ascension be swift and graceful.

It could be a bug, or it's possible that it doesn't count your liege as needing a regent if he's imprisoned within his own realm. By all rights it should, but it might not.

The Devs have done it, to prevent such behavior from Players.

If a Ruler is still in his Realm, they will never need a Regency.
Even they travel to an Holy Site, who is in their Realm, but the Travel Route is through foreign Lands.

Hello, thanks for your answer.. to me it seems like a bug. If somebody is imprisoned, he can not do his duties in ruling.

But this is illogical... it shouldn't matter where he is imprisoned. If he is not in a state of being able to fulfill duties as a ruler, he should be in a regency...

I suppose the devs believe this would be an exploit. If a regent could simply kidnap his liege, it would make it fairly trivial for any player with a good spymaster to become a king without any of the downsides to ruling. Even if it's discovered that you did it, who could punish you? You're the regent.

I mean characters do have the possibility to escape from prison. There is that. Also there are/ or should be penalties from family members, which would 1) make the heir of your liege angry at you and 2) make co-vassals from same dynasty/family as liege hate you and maybe declare war. There are many possibilities to limit this exploit or at least make it not that attractive, but the current solution of not entering a regency limits story telling a lot. The "exploit" itself isn't that easy. You first of all need to be able to kidnap, then you need to befriend your liege. Many factors are already limiting these actions.

How is this an exploit, it just another way to conquer. Technically its the kings fault , not the player. All the king had to do is say "No" to becoming Regent.
