Marriage prestige award
I have arranged my son's marriage that was showing +700 on my side. They agreed, he was too young so I figured I'll get it when they actually get married. Then he grew up, I have doubled down on the marriage and they show up as married but I didn't get any prestige. What's up with that?

You don’t get the prestige. Your son gets it, so if you look at his profile he should be 700 higher.

This. The prestige gain is for the people actually getting married, not their lieges.

Thus it's a matter of preparing your son for his future. A reason high-prestige candidates are a good choice for your heir.

Yeah, it's nice to stack a bunch of prestige into your heir so when succession happens you don't have as much of a bit to things like opinion and number of knights.

But it is never worth it, because Characters with landed Parents, will always leave your Court, when their Parents dies, because they are automatically resettled to the new Court of their Siblings.

Only, when they are married to a Ruler, they stay, but employed Courtiers and Heirs can not leave and in general their Spouse can not leave too, but this is bypassed by the automatic Resettlement of Characters, by the creation of new Courts.

1 of my Courtiers lost all of their Childs, through this.

Thank you guys, I'm new to this game and loving it so far :) I didn't understand a word @Emperror2000 said, but I guess I'll see when my first character dies :)

What he said doesn't really matter for the player character anyway, you can just call them back immediately with the "head of household" hook when they leave.

There's already too much prestige content bloat in the game. If you fart you'll get prestige. Flattered some random peasant in your court? Guess what? You're a "Living Legend" now. Its really hard to take this game seriously anymore until they address the modifier + prestige stacking

Not really, because they are Close Relatives of their Liege and not yours, even their primary Spouse is at your Court.

But normally, the Game doesn't want to split Families and Spouses, but this Bug exist since the Release of the Game and has many other Bugs, not yet fixed, by the Devs.

Yeah, I find the prestige part to be completely ignorable.

Instead you probably should looking for good congenital traits, like genius, beautiful or amazonian, or if you're in a dangerous situation with your neighbors (or vassals) seek powerful allies that seem to be stable enough.

If you're playing christians you can marry the daughters of neighboring kings so that when they die they will pass on claims on their kingdoms to your children, so you can take entire kingdoms/empires in a single future war.

I have never needed alliances in this game, its a waste of a daughter. This is even starting as a count with one or two titles. I use Daughter to build powerful vassals, or early on to bring in good council members. So i do not get stuck with some single digit Stewart or Martial etc.. And I always check for inherited genes, I try to get those good genes pumping out early in my play threw.
