Also game has 2 achievement systems running if you're on Steam. The ingame achievements activate everytime you unlock something (they show up in the upper left corner). Steam Achievements do their normal, lower Right corner popup thing, but will only activate once. Pretty sure the Steam Achievements are tied to the ingame achievements, but only record the first time it's happened.
Welcome in 2023?
Mods no longer disable achievements. Ironman isn't required either.
There are only three requirements left:
1) You must not change any game rules which are marked as disabling achievements
2) You must not create a custom ruler worth more than 400 points (some specific achievements are not possible with any custom rulers)
3) You must never enable debug mode
Additionally, trying to create / edit more than one character with the Ruler Designer will disable achievements. But that was always more of an exploit and not working as intended.
For that reason, creating a wife and family with the Spouse Designer mod disables achievements.
After since I play offline, I stopped getting achievements, although in-game they still pop up, even those I already have.
Be like... doing this and that no longer gives you a VAC in Left 4 Dead... I be like... sure whatever... still not activating auto aim.
As for Single Player... if I'm downloading a game while trying to run this game.... it takes fooooreeeevvverrrr for the game to start. Which tells me... this game connects to a server whether you want it to, or not.
