How to boost archer cavalry
Never used Archer Cavalry before, but looking into it now I didn't see any boni to them on buildings (i.e. stationing boni).

There is for light cavalry, heavy cavalry, camel cavalry ... but not the archer cavalry.

If that is true and I am not mistaken wouldn't that lead to a point where archer cavalry is hopelessly underpowered as soon as other MAA are stationed and getting nice boni?

Hills and plains have building that boost archer cavalry. The Stables and Black Smiths building also boost archer cavalry. That said If you plan to build an Archer Cavalry army then you have to look at the terrain first. They're meant to only exist in certain regions.

Sparing grounds etc.

Just checked in game. Stables do not give boni to archer cav (at least it does not mention them, only light and heavy cav).

Blacksmith gives general boni (so it would affect all of them anyway).

Didnt see any plain specific building for archer cav, either.

So are you sure there are any?

Edit: Ah steppes have one building at least.

Archer cav is tribal. I just told you what gives archer bonus. If you are tryign to poof them out of thin air then no you won't have bonus.

Wild Horse pens are whatever also give bonus.

Archer cav is not tribal. You can have it as clan or feudal, too.

Ah ok, never created them.

I think stables used to boost but i'm not too sure.

The black smith general bonus still counts lol.

I meant Steppes not plains.

Paradox went out of their way to nerf AC you can't just boost them anywhere anymore. Black Smiths, Wind Furnaces, Hillside Grazing Land, Archery Grounds(duchy building), and the Tribal/Feudal/Clan version of horse taming in the steppes. Are all there is when it comes to boosting AC.

There should be a feudal building called Horse Herds which can only be constructed in Steppe terrain.

Just tested this and you can build it anywhere you just need the horse lord tradition. Also you can double it up with Hillside Grazing Land + Blacksmiths for awesome damage stacking.

Not everywhere. Plains don't seem to work for example.

Also Horse Lords requires you to be mongol or turkic heritage, while the Asawira (the reason I asked for this) require you to have a legacy that is bound to iranian heritage (though you could switch afterwards)

I played a Khazar run few months back and I wondered this as well, where I can build the relevant buildings. This is what I found in the game files:
building_warrior_lodges_requirement_terrain = { OR = { terrain = mountains terrain = desert_mountains terrain = hills } NOT = { geographical_region = world_horse_buildings_in_hills_and_mountains } } building_hillside_grazing_requirement_terrain = { OR = { terrain = mountains terrain = desert_mountains terrain = hills } geographical_region = world_horse_buildings_in_hills_and_mountains }

Maybe they added AC stuff in the new patch and DLC tho, didn't check those yet.

Alright i was going mostly by the wiki. According to the game scripts, these are the actual conditions in /scripted_triggers/00_building_requirement_triggers.txt

OR = { terrain = steppe geographical_region = world_steppe_east culture = { has_cultural_parameter = unlock_horse_pastures_building } }

So any of these enables the building:

A) Steppe terrain
B) Eastern Steppes world region
C) Culture has a tradition to unlock it (right now this is only Horse Lords)

Here's a map showing where you can construct either the Warrior Lodges or the Hillside Grazing Lands

Yes, this is for the Horse Pastures building.
From what I remember I tried to station my AC in a county with Horse pastures, Grazing\Lodge and a Blacksmith.

I have another question about archer cavalry, I reformed the Persian empire and with the 10k renown I unlocked the tradition that gives you the Asawira (archer cavalry) but one thing I haven't managed to find is an acclaimed knight with the archer cavalry trait to boost their numbers and damage. Is it possible as a nation without the horse lords tradition to get these knights?
