Send Child TO University.
I don't get how this fully works. I read sending them to university is a good chance to get 4 star trait. What I don't get is, does the child still need a guardian for personality traits? Or does University act as a type of boarding school age 6-15?

University does nothing but improve the education score.

Universities gives the Child +12 Education Points, when they get the Coming of Age, so it always result in a Tier 4 Education, because they only need 5 more Points, to get the Tier 4 Education, but this currently confuses the Game, because the Game wanted to give your child or you(if you are playing a child), a lesser Education, causing the Tooltip, to tell false informations.

Since you seem to have looked into the subject, I wonder if I could ask you a question?
Do you know at what age you need to send the child to the university in order to get the +12 points?

So do I still get the guardian events, or automatic witch conversion (if raised by a dynasty witch) etc. if I send a child to university?

It is enough, if you send them 1 day before they become an adult, the game only checks, if they have the flag "study at University", it does not check how long they are at University.

The Guardian events will trigger as normal, it is only a flag for the child, which increase the Education outcome by a lot(+12 points).
