Iberia Bug - After latest patch all kingdoms in Iberia turned into empires and cannot create empire of Hispania anymore?

As title suggests, recently loaded up my Iberian save game as Aragon, only to find that Castille, Navarra, Me (Aragon) and 3 of the southern Muslim kingdoms have all turned into empires, even on the de-jure map mode this shows up instead of empire of hispania, decision to create it not there anymore.

Is this something that I missed out on the latest patch that is intended, or a bug?

Playing Ironman mode and wanting to get achievements, so going into files and changing this manually would destroy my save and progress.

i saw something in aptch ntoes about a certain fase end . maby that's what happenend . read up on patch notes iberia got some changes i saw

As far as I know, one of the Iberian Struggle endings (I think Status Quo) turns every de-jure Kingdom into an Empire, but please someone else correct me, haven't looked it up.
So, if you didnt end the struggle, yeah then it might be a bug where the game thinks you did anyways

Sounds like a bug then, as I did not end the struggle, the struggle icon doesn't appear anymore, so I'm guessing as you said, the game probably thinks I ended it.

i saw this happen in my friend's game and I thought it was hilarious, there was even a 1 county empire but I'm not sure that's allowed to happen, a status quo popup did appear regarding this

Are you even supposed to load old saves in the new version? It has like major changes.
Does the same happen on a new save?
