Cannot modify feudal contract? "obligations have already been changed"
I am a Duke and my contract obliges me to provide massive Levies, I now have a strong hook on the king, but I still cannot change the contracts, this is a new Character and can 100% confirm the contract has not been modified in this dukes 5 years of being the duke of Galicia, so I don't understand why I cannot change it?

I do however own most of the region of Galicia, could this explain it, since I am basically the country?

It's really quite annoying after pushing claims for the throne only to realize that the previous ruler made everyone tax free and gave them council rights. That's one reason I rarely press personal claims internally anymore against my liege if I'm a vassal because everyone's contracts are all fk'd up.

Have you already changed your obligations once with the current king? That might be why. I'm not sure if both need to be fresh characters before a contract can be changed but that could be it.

I'm 90% sure that's how obligations work, because clearly they're for life and can never-ever be changed by two living parties who want to change things.

Just to be sure, new means what?
Cuse if they were duke, while you were a different character, it could have changed, you current char dies, you become the duke with the changed contract.
I know you said you are sure it didn't change, but as I don't know what new means here i think it needs to be asked

It might be once per lifetime of the liege?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Yeah, I honestly don't know why PDX thought that was historically accurate at all. Even if it was, I'd put it into certain events or cultures/realms that had such practices; beyond that it's just bad gameplay design.

I think contracts are due for an overhaul/balancing anyway. Some of them are just plain broken (looking at you, "march" feudal contract).

Don't want to pay taxes and get massive boost to garrison size, army maintenance, and +5 friendly territory advantage bonus? Take the March contract. Your liege will give it to you for free and since your fellow vassals will almost never ask for it, you can use it to get a massive advantage and run around the realm beating them up.
