My prisoner has a prisoner:... my wife!
So i had a revolt. Put it down without too much trouble, but my capitol was taken at one point. Have the capitol back, and the revolt leader in prison.

But he has my wife and daughter as prisoners after taking my capitol for about 3 days. I can ransom them... but the dude is my prisoner.

Can i not just force the dude to hand then over? Maybe if i execute him?

This has always been an annoying feature to me. Not enough option for bailing someone out. I had an incident where my duke vassals daughter was somehow imprisoned by one of his barons, not even a count. I was not able to retract her because she was a baron. Luckily she had no heir except for the duke, so imprisoned her, executed her and the duke released his daughters, aka my betrothed.

I had another similar incident but a count had one of my extended family. I murdered the count hoping the counts heir would release my family. Instead they tortured her. SO I took over the land and that freed my family.

In theory because its your wife. You release your prisoner, then you should be able to pay a ransom for her.

Revoke his titles and his court and prison should be disbanded, if he lose his last title, because unlanded characters can not have a court and a prison.

Seems that i cannot revoke without incurring tyranny etc.

I just paid for them, which is annoying. Seems like an oversight but maybe I'm wrong.

Thanks all

When he is already in Prison, he can not refuse, you might gain Tyranny, but no Civil War, because a Prisoner of your Prison can not declare War against you, they would be executed, if they would do this.

yeah, it's a bit frustrating. It would be nice to negotiate, or even instigate a war this way!

I agree, it's crazy enough that as their lawful liege lord you can't simply order them to release any prisoner they hold but double stupid if you actually have the dude in prison himself.

You absolutely should at least be able to say "release all my relatives from prison and I will release you".

Or "release all my Relatives now and you will not be executed", why should someone offer them to come free, when at the same time, they can offer their life instead.

and if the character is sadistic, give you the option for each relative they don't want to release (because obviously characters are value differently during the negotiation), you cut them one finger and you free him. (???

Couldn’t you release him for a hook and use the hook to ransom your wife?
