Direction of this game/dlc
Hello together,

I just read all features of this dlc and I am alittle bit confused about the direction this game is taking.

I really like the new interactions and its up to everoby if he is willing to pay the price.

But my biggest problem with the game is that it is a map drawer and that there is nothing taking care about to change that and bring more complexity. I mean, it would quite easy to implement a global maximum supply limit (which will increase over time /science) so you cannot have a lot more combatants than your enemy (snowballing) and then a mechanic not simply apply one general and knights but also leader for your extra troops and this would also benefit the whole character development and interactions stuff - characters could develop in monster leaders or warriors and you try to get them by marriage and or intregue ....

Lets also have more dynamic names for the Kingdoms and also variations in the banner when a different family is ruling them. Maybe have also "Family Leader traits" like usopator Family and stuff like that ...

I do really hope that this game will made changes in this kind of way in 2024 ... the foundation is good, you just need to focus on the right things and not just only spam event DLCs nobody really need (First contact ....)

They roadmap for 2023 is for me all together very disappointing regarding its direction.

I kinda disagree. Vassal stances, tours and now regencies are all about giving you tools, systems and complexity in regards to managing your realm internally, rather than just being a map painter with little consequences to that.

Not to mention culture is now way more nuanced. I came back to CK3 after a break and taking Kyiv as Rurik I for the first time realized adopting local customs is a necessity rather than a choice - because there's huge difference between people lining up to be your vassal and having to constantly fight everyone.

Furthermore, depending on the area you're playing I'd argue map painting is actually discouraged. You can conquer the whole Siberia, sure, but then you'll have a vast territory with nothing in it, bringing you a glorious 0.1 in taxes - and of course you'll spend much more keeping your vassals leashed and fighting foreign powers that for some reason want that land for themselves.

The whole direction of the game is not to be a map drawer, more like an rpg dating simulation something completely different than the usual Paradox's game. Obviously the grand strategy part is still really important, which I'm glad. But they are giving more emphasis to the role playing that way we don't need to be in constantly war just to pain the map.

Also I'm pretty sure they will keep giving us more grand strategy tools. Just enjoy.:treb::tsunami:

Have you done roleplay campaigns? As soon as it's too easy after 50 years, the player will exit out. The next 4 dlcs won't help this issue. Theyre all inferior to the already imperfect ck2 monks n mystics because they don't combine multiple playstyles into 1 dlc. 1 cosmetic dlc fine, but 4 in a row? zzz.
