I ended up getting by during the rule of a handful of Christian kings in Sweden, until finally getting my elder brother elected (he wasn't my original heir because I made him my realm priest so his genius sister would become my heir, and character I'm currently playing as). He is zealous, as am I, and has a learning education while I have an intrigue one. I fabricated enough hooks to guarantee he'd take over with his claim to the Swedish throne inherited from our father Erik the Heathen.
After getting him the throne, I aided him from behind the scenes by manipulating other members of the realm and murdering any unruly Christian vassals that refused to convert and instead form factions against our true King, which has been a fun way to play.
Now I'm in my mid 60s and I poor health, he's a couple years older but in fine health still, thanks to his Whole of Body trait. I used my once per lifetime invade kingdom CB and tool most of Norway for him, though a small pocket of "Norway" exists (the king had some if the Sami counties he retreated to), and a couple counties belong to Denmark (Denmark had controlled Norway for while prior to this).
I'm now hoping my brother and King will go after Denmark himself, but if not, I'll go after it while playing my son and heir. Then we'll be close to having my King form the Scandinavian Empire and I can start helping convert the Christian counties in our realm.
