If you've got Daurama, who has I dunno Tzatak, who has Daurama, who has another Daurama, who has another Tzatak... Your order of leaders will look like this:
Daurama I
Tzatak I
Daurama II
Daurama III
Tzatak II
But it goes by people who've held that title, I believe, and it's only for kingdom or empire titles. So if I'm not mistaken, if you ascended to the kingdom tier and there had already BEEN two leaders named Daurama holding that title before you ever even held it... Your Daurama I would actually become Daurama III.
Likewise, if you move from kingdom to empire, I think the titles would reset. Because now you're going by who all named Daurama has held that empire title specifically.
In other words, IRL, if America conquered Britain and set up its President Elizabeth Whitehouse (hah!) as the new monarch, she'd be called Queen Elizabeth III.
On the same note, interesting fact you may or may not know: Scotland actually wanted Queen Elizabeth to be called Queen Elizabeth II of England and Queen Elizabeth I of Scotland, because the first Elizabeth never ruled Scotland (and no queen named Elizabeth had). However most realms in the Commonwealth just adopted Elizabeth II for simplicity.
But that's the kind of thing we're dealing with when it comes to regnal numbering.
Yeah, I did some messing around with saves to test it, and found that is the case; that CK3 adds regnal numbers upon succession. Which in hindsight, should've been obvious, but alas. So now, I just have two Daurama I's in a row, because the first was still manually named.
so i pull full stop in place of spaces; 'micheal.jackson' etc works...
