Victory in an unfavorable battle
I would like to upset you by winning the outnumbered war.
If an enemy ruler comes onto the battlefield and is leading a squad, is it possible to capture the enemy ruler using save and load?

I think, but there are other ways to win when outnumbered. A much superior commander with good men-at-arms counter and careful choice of terrain when fighting can overcome much larger numbers.

An elite commander with great knights and maxed out MaA will win most battles, even when severely outnumbered.

I think he's asking about the technique where you raise your army near the faction leader and then save scum the battle until you capture him, ending the war while the other faction members are still gathering.

The intent of my question is this.
Is every commander equally likely to be captured?

I think it might be weighted by their Prowess...? I'm not sure. Rulers might also be much harder to capture, as I don't find myself capturing as many kings in battle as I do lesser generals.

A difference by prowess and rank would make sense.

Thank you for answering
After all, I felt that the probability of capturing the king was lower than capturing the count, so my experience was correct.
From now on, when fighting rulers with low prowess, I will actively aim to capture them.

Is it possible? Sure nearly anything is possible, and battle calculations done pre-battle in a game like this would be ridiculous. Is it likely. no it is not.

So the major factor in favor is if they are stack wiped In other words no run away troops, and the major factor against is their prowess.

Now lets look at those numbers. Before going on this says commanders. I can't find anything in the wiki mentioning knight capturing so they could be different numbers. Also as I am cutting the numbers off so these are "close enough" numbers.

TLDR: unless you stack wipe them, and they are below 20 prowess I wouldn't bother.

No modifiers.
5 prowess. 10 X 25 / 30 = 8.333 / 90 = 0.09258 = 9.258%
10 prowess. 10 X 20 / 30 = 6.666 / 90 = 0.07406 = 7.406%
15 prowess. 10 X 15 / 30 = 5 / 90 = 0.05555 = 5.555%
20 prowess. 10 X 10 / 30 = 3.333 / 90 = .03703 = 3.703%
25 prowess. 10 X 5 / 30 = 1.666 / 90 = 0.01851 = 1.851%
30 prowess. 10 X 0.1 / 30 = .0333 / 90 = 0.00037 = 0.037%

Stack wipe. 90 / 5 = 18
5 prowess. 10 X 25 / 30 = 8.333 / 18 = 0.4629 = 46.29%%
10 prowess. 10 X 20 / 30 = 6.666 / 18 = 0.3703 = 37.03%%
15 prowess. 10 X 15 / 30 = 5 / 18 = 0.2777 = 27.77%
20 prowess. 10 X 10 / 30 = 3.333 / 18 = 0.1851 = 18.51%
25 prowess. 10 X 5 / 30 = 1.666 / 18 = 0.09255 = 9.255%
30 prowess. 10 X 0.1 / 30 = .0333 / 18 = .00185 = .185%

Stack wipe vs a brave maimed commander without stalwart leader (for giggles)
5 prowess. 10 X 25 / 30 = 8.333 X 2 X 3 = 49.998 / 18 = 2.777 = 277.7%
10 prowess. 10 X 20 / 30 = 6.666 X 2 X 3 = 39.996 / 18 = 2.222 = 222.2%
15 prowess. 10 X 15 / 30 = 5 X 2 X 3 = 30 / 18 = 1.666 = 166.6%
20 prowess. 10 X 10 / 30 = 3.333 X 2 X 3 = 19.998 / 18 = 1.111 = 111.1%
25 prowess. 10 X 5 / 30 = 1.666 X 2 X 3 = 9.996 / 18 = .5553 = 55.53%
30 prowess. 10 X 0.1 / 30 = .0333 X 2 X 3 = .1998 / 18 = .0111 = 1.11%

I didn't know one legged characters were much easier to capture. Makes sense though, lol

Although there is always a possibility, the capture probability when they are not stackwiped is not so high.
At the end of the game, the great powers tend to chose kin dynasty legacies to prevent their abilities from declining with age, which seems to make them more difficult to capture.
