How to get a good bishop

I can't appoint one, so how do I get one that doesn't suck. Especially if I plan on converting counties?

You can scheme to kill your bad bishop and hope for a good bishop

Another option is to modify your religion to choose your own bishops, although it is usually even more risky than kill the current one.

I usually just suffer my incompetent bishop for roleplaying or to avoid other risks. Of course his low Aprentice is a big problem. XD

P.D: I remember when Manco de Lepanto, a very good Spanish streamer, killed about 5 consecutive bishops because all of them were awful. He ended accepting one with a mediocre 8 Aprentice. Fortunately such horrible streaks are rare.
