"Equal is no longer valid" gender law
Weird situation and google-fu is failing me.. My Empress had changed gender laws to 'Equal'. (for obvious reasons). I created a kingdom title within the empire and suddenly got an "Equal is no longer valid, and was replaced by Male Preference". I can't see any explanation for why the change became necessary. And looking at changing it back I see no blockers aside from now having to save up 500 more prestige and now I have a vassal that's powerful enough to oppose changing it back that I need to murder/replace. But nothing as to why the law would've changed.. and how to create this empire title without changing it?

Religion takes preference over Succession laws.
Since Religion is male dominated, the succession law cannot be equal.

Funny enough, if religion is equal, the male preference succession law can still be activated.
So women cannot have multiple spouse or concubines.

But in your case creating new titles, every title created is set to default. that is male preference.

huh.. so even if you have a higher level title (empress) if you create a lower title w/in your domain (kingdom) it just resets the laws you'd passed without warning? That... really, that's a feature? Is there a mod that fixes that 'feature'?

There was an Bug, allowing all Rulers in male-dominated faiths, to enact Equal Gender Law, but the Devs have fixed it with the 1.9.1 Patch.

Is there any way to roll back to that 'bug' without fully reverting the full patch? Or some setting somewhere? Because that bug makes a whole lot more sense in my head then this solution. (Empress of all that the sun touches, ruling over vassals of dozens of religions, cannot pass a law because one religion that's too expensive to reform says 'no', and there is zero way to do anything about this legal matter short of converting or reforming the whole faith - which you can only do once)

You can reform your culture with the Equal Tradition.

Takes around 10 - 30 years, depending on how big your culture is.

hmm... even with culture blending, reforming costs 3K crown authority, way too expensive for my wallet. Also would that override the religious men-only part of things?

(I'm just going to revert the 1.9.1 one patch for now until this gets unfixed or someone patches it or I get to the point of the game where I can reform the religion. This isn't fun or realistic, its just annoying.)

Culture always overrides Religion.

Take concubines as an Example, even your Faith is monogamous, if your culture has the concubine Tradition, you are allowed to have Concubines.

And 3.000 Prestige is nothing since T&T, just host a Tournament, a Hunt, a Feast or a Grand Wedding.

hmm.. let me try that, haven't really hosted those (lots of gold, always had other uses for it) but I'll try it

And yet my FEMALE dominated religion allows everything except male preferred. Even allows male only. Bit of a double standard, hmmm?
