AI not marrying properly?
Hi guys,

Has anyone else noticing something strange since the update regarding AI marriages? Counts, even important ones such as princes, seem to not marry anymore? I started a new game and 4 of my vassals are not marrying, including the count of Anjou (867). Several great families are simmply on the brink of dying out. This isn't limited to my realm. It's doing something strange.

And it seems the AI is not longer as demanding regarding whom you can marry. I started as a player created character/house and I could marry the king of Lotharingia's grand-daughter right away and inherit it.

ANyone else has this? I play entirely vanilla, no mod whatsoever.

Yeah. None of my vassals in either of my two test games would marry.

I noticed this as well. I created a child ruler to test Wards and Wardens, pure vanilla, and neither my regent nor any of the single male rulers around the map were marrying. Even if they were heirless. (They could take concubines, though, and I was able to betroth myself to another child just fine.)

I am sure the hotfix is already on the way for something so obvious, but there is a bug reporting section of the PDX CK3 forums I encourage all to report to.

This was even the case, since the Release of the Game and they have reinforced that a Bug, because they increased the Lowborn to 120 and the Lowborn Spouses are mean to be as Back-up Spouses, but because the Penalty is too high, the AI will not marry them and their Dynasty will die out.

The one thing I will add here is that I had kings and dukes not marrying either, so I think it was something specific with the new update rather than something old. They would betroth their children and take concubines, but not actually marry themselves.

I noticed it especially because Alfonsu (867 start) nearly always takes a wife first thing to get an alliance/heir and he did not marry even years in. Ludwig the Younger also has yet to wed, despite inheriting his father's throne. Both have no heirs.

At least, you can force your Vassals to marry, because you are their Liege(+40 acceptance score).

But I am doing this since the Release of the Game, constantly babysitting for the AI.

It's normal for the AI to not marry in the first decade of a new game (this is to give you a chance to setup the marriages you want I assume) but if it's persisting past that then this is indeed probably a new bug )

No. That's totally not normal. The AI landed rulers always marry immediately in every game i've ever played.

They do marry faster if they lack an heir of their dynasty, but you can try this out with the Abbasid sultan in 867, and you'll observe that he goes years without marrying until about a decade passes when he marries a bunch of people in quick succession.

(Also generating families being true will result in a family being generated before game start if they lack an heir of their dynasty (which many less documented characters do) .)

(I very much have not tested this in 1.10 to be clear so I can't say this isn't a new bug, I've been working on updating my mods for 1.10 today )

I can't affirm that it's widespread but I have noticed it a couple of times far in my campaign with a couple of rulers.
I haven't checked it but I suspect it has something to do with personality, sexuality or character traits.

They would accept concubines but no marriage offer unless it was close family(daughters/sisters).

There also seem to be a bug, according to some forum goers, where a ruler can't seem to find potential spouses for themselves, but I cannot confirm that.
A Paradox staff member answered on the forum where I reported the bug. They confirmed something is wrong:

Heyo Oakheart!
Thank you for the report, I have now confirmed that there's a difference in marriages between the 1.9.2 and 1.10 versions.

I wish you a lovely rest of the day!

Kind regards,
TinyTinny

The issue has been officially acknowledged and supposedly hot fixed as of this morning. Here's hoping.

Yeah way too many rulers are not married.

Does hotfix mean new game again? Because I already started a new game yesterday....

There was a mini update today and it seems to work. My single rulers are finally starting to get married.
Thanks to those who reported it ;)
