Can't Marry Berothed?
I promised a grand wedding for my player heir of Francia to betroth the princess of Byanzine. I got a notice once she turned 16 that I could start the grand wedding. Right at that moment before I could accept I died, and started as my player heir, however, it now seems that we're stuck in berothal and I don't see how to move forward with the marriage? Is this a bug, or am I missing something?

Yes it's a known bug. From another post:

There's a bug that causes the "betrothed can marry" notification to not fire. To manually complete the betrothal, simply right click on the 2 characters. One of them will have the "arrange marriage" option available, and clicking that will bring up the proposal screen to complete the marriage.

doesn't work. just see break betrothal for the princess and arrange marriage for people in my realm for my player character
My apologies for the thread necro, but I (seem to) have the same problem. My character died, son took over, son is betrothed but the marriage never happens. Plus trying to follow the advice for fixing the bug, namely selecting "arrange marriage", doesn't work. I can only select courtiers, not my character or their betrothed. Do I just have to wait and cross my fingers, or accept he has to go through life forever alone?

Never use the Grand Wedding Option for Betrothals, only when both Adults.
(The Promise is connected to the Character, who makes the Promise and the Flag is not inherited, by the Heir).

You have a tiny Time Window, to change it to an Grand Wedding, because the AI can forces you, for some unknown Reason, to accept, even most Actions the AI can take against the Player, can always be refused by the Player, unless the AI uses a Strong Hook.

Thanks, I'll try and remember that. Although the betrothal thing was already set up by the time power changed hands to the new fellow so I didn't get any opportunity to influence things, at least so far as I noticed.

Hmm. I wonder if I could break the betrothal and try to marry someone else...

If you have F&F active, the other House will instantly start an House Feud against you.
There are a couple tricks you can try. Dismiss from court. Invite to court. These two seem to reset the situation on occasion. These interactions can be for either party since one of them may not be at or willing to maneuver around court. Sometimes imprisoning and releasing works.

So, for my case, I had at one time set up a marriage and it did not fire off since dismissing a relative sent them away and somehow made the marriage enter hibernation ;). Once I invited the "dismissed" courtier back, marriage automatically fired off.

In terms of wedding ceremonies...I have not figured out any way to work around except only once where I saved and exited out and reloaded and allowed me to fire the event off. Aside from that, without taking a penalty, I think only murder works.

Pretty sad that cheating doesn't allow for a break on marriage without penalty.
