Experience gain for traits not added by Trials and Tournaments are all broken?
I was wondering why it was nearly impossible to find good doctors, so I looked into this and... the blademaster, wiseman, and physician traits are all just broken right? You can get the lowest level, but it's impossible to get higher levels with the revision to pilgrimages and travel.

They don't appear to gain any meaningful kind of experience, and the better versions of the trait aren't searchable anymore in the character finder.

That seems bad, right?

While I think you're correct that being in a court position can raise experience in those stats, you used to be able to raise Blademaster or Wiseman through actions as a ruler. That's what you can't do now.

Yeah, I know about 'train knights', I have not seen any of them successfully improve Blademaster from Novice. I haven't seen anyone with anything other than Novice in any of these traits in any of my games since Trials and Tournaments released.

Hi
The Blademaster trait is upgradeable via grand tournament duels
And console
The Dr trait, is again upgradeable via console both for ruler And ur dr

do a search on reddit, they got all u need heres the one that does your ruler:

effect = { add_trait_xp = {trait = lifestyle_physician value=100}}

this page shows u all u need to know, scroll down to where they talk about using the console explorer

https://www.reddit.com/r/CrusaderKings/comments/13w4nue/console_command_how_to_add_trait_exp_for_leveled/

once u reach the right person u want to alter this will be the script to use:
effect character = { add_trait_xp = {trait = lifestyle_blademaster value=50}}

Blademaster, as mentioned, is usually gained initially by event, you can set your Marshall to train your knights and they can gain the trait blademaster, and when you reach a further developed level in the game you can start bringing knights along for training while you travel. You can also set up a knight accolade to give your heir blademaster, or hunter, or both.

Blademaster improvements ARE few and far between outside of duels. Always have been I think.

The physician trait improves when they successfully treat somebody. With a larger and more attractive court you can search/invite for better physicians, and with the many chances for people to get wounded, ill, or catch a plague this usually goes up pretty fast in my games.

I'm not sure what, if anything, got revised, but that is still how they are currently working in my games. If I add "warriors by merit" as a tradition, it seems like every 4th or 5th guest is a level 1 or 2 blademaster, and a search/invite for knights draws one even more often.

Um... NO. IT IS VERY EASY TO FIND GOOD PHYSICIANS. Want a good physician? Find an unmarried courier and "find spouse" that has high learning and any additional traits that supports physicians..

Lets say, you find a 15-20 learning spouse that shows an aptitude of poor or average, as soon as they treat a patient, it will go up since they will get the physician trait.

Very easy to fill roles by assigning new spouses to courtiers that have whatever you're looking for. No available spouses? well, that's another discussion on you needing to manage your realm a lil better. Not gonna play the game for you.

Good Luck

By kingdom level I usually have good options, with a search/invite, with either mystic or physician; does it not work that way for you? I also usually have my court splendor pretty far up by then too. I don't run any mods that touch on either of those things.

They are of some different culture or religion most of the time, but boosting splendor seems to counteract that.

Add: Did some quick checking, and with a high enough learning (or the scholar trait) it looks like I get 4 possibles with and invite. That additional one this draw has physician 1 and herbalist. The other two are novices (19 & 10) and they mystic, while a BIG girl, is at 70. 2nd gen into the game, king, grandeur is jacked - costing me just under 8 gold a month.

Well, for me... It doesn't really matter about realm size unless you're attempting to find a noble. Matters about culture, religion and most importantly a courtiers opinion of you. IF I host a feast and up my court opinion with everyone, generally find spouses open up. Splendor relates to opinion in this instance. IF your whole court has a negative opinion (usually new ruler and have the short reign bonus going against you + any other modifiers) then it seems as if find spouse only works within court only.
