Ruler Cant Remarry?

Not sure this is a mod conflict but i dont think im running any mods that would touch marrage like this, but for some reason my older rulers when they either divorce or their partner dies doesnt get option to remarry, i can click arrange marrage but the ruler doesnt come up on the list, i thought maybe it was the 2 year marrage cooldown i read about but even after several years this seems to still be the case, is there perhaps a file i can change to allow this?

The "Find Spouse" option is not even appearing. Their partner died alittle over 3 and a half years ago now.

In that case, it was my heir who couldn't get married. He also was stuck in his Knight outfit permanently.

I had him betrothed for Grand Marriage before dying with the original ruler, but after succession there was absolutely no way to turn the betrothal into a marriage. Basically the betrothed was 15 when my ruler got the "you die within a year" message, heir was 17, perfect timing but the game bugged out.

Grand Marriages seem to be a general issue, like when you can only organize one grand wedding per lifetime because some scripting flag didn't get cleared in the first one.

My character didnt have a grand marriage, or at least i didnt think they did, but it does seem to be similar, the option no longer appearing, its almost like the spouse gets locked, i tried loading before the death and divorcing, same issue, couldnt remarry.
I did throw like 3 or 4 grand weddings with the previous character though, maybe some flags got tripped that got stuck

I would ask to check your culture to see if you have monogamous marriages or whatever its called where you get only one spouse and cant divorce or something.

Monogamous still allows remarage after, there are some culture effects that change things abit but dont have any of those, and my religion is as open as can be for all forms of this, I even tried entering debug and changing to several different religions/cultures as a test and still doesnt work, im pretty sure its a bug, never had an issue like this till recently.

Few months back there was a few gamebreaking marriage bugs with Grand Weddings, if they're still prevalent today, that's a high possibility, since you cannot confirm or deny that.

Else, what's your mod list? Because there COULD be a mod incompatibility issue too. I know mods like Knight Manager can impact marriage without proper compatibility mods.

it could be a mod, il have to get my mod list soon, this is the 2nd playthrough i had it happen on though, the first playthrough all i was running was stuff like medieval matriachs, afew UI scaling mods/character cosmetics, like hair color and such, and CFP. oh also Foundational framework. My current playthrough is allot more modded but its same exact thing, "Find Spouse" option just no longer shows up after the previous partner dies or is divorced.

Another possibility is a persistent regent who wants to annoy a little.

ruler is not infirm or incapable, it may be age related, they were over 50, no regent.

You're not married to a spouse that's off ruling land somewhere perhaps?

no, mentioned earlier, spouse died several years ago now, (well now its been about 30 years in game since they died) also mentioned i tried loading to before this and divorcing, still same issue, could not remarry no matter the years after, my ruler is female though and im starting to wonder if the bug is linked to them being too old to have kids? my other characters could remarry fine.

character is also an indpedenent ruler (queen), so no liege above, shes a hybrid of norse that allows gender laws, and is a reformed asatru with female tenents.
