cant marry even though im an emperor
so I spent all this time building up roman empire just to leave it to my son with great genetic trait but for some reason the character im playing(son of previous emperor) is unable to get married, when i go to marrige tab it says no valid characters, is it a bug or something.

Did you decide to be celibate? That counts as being infertile.

But does not block Marriage, like Eunuch does.

okay so i think i might know a cause why the character im playing is unable to be married when he was a kid i betrothed him and grand married another but when i grew up the betrothal never went through, so now when i went into the marriage tab and hover over grand marriage it says you can only promise one grand wedding at a time, so the game thinks that were still betrothed and as im not aware whom im "betrothed" to i cant break it, any way to find out who you were betrothed to other than hovering over the character?

I had that same error in two of my playthroughs. Never figured out how to solve this. I think this is some unintended behavior of the game (bug would be too big a word here I guess) that will hopefully be ironed out in an upcoming patch.

Yes but noone will want to marry you except others who are infertile.

Or your Courtier, because Courtiers can not refuse a Marriage arranged by their Liege.

And there are enough fertile lowborn women in this Game and trust me, they are the better spouses in the Game, because they don't wander off, because a Close Relative of them, has become a Ruler.

Or because they've become a ruler (metric or imperial? :D) themselves. I basically eat the prestige hit and marry commoners for this reason, unless there is a VERY good reason to marry someone else. Inheriting another realm doesn't count, because inevitably some quirk in inheritance laws or a bug will screw my heirs out of that inheritance.

Yeah there seem to be some bugs with marriage since the last DLC, see here

Basically i had my heir betrothed just before my ruler died (perk to get the warning) via Grand Marriage.

After succession, the heir was stuck in the knight outfit and couldn't marry his betrothed.

I was thinking a patch pushed claimed to fix this, but I do know they for sure have had it documented as an issue. (There is an official forum with a bug section.)

Anyway, here is a link to that official forum with a thread from June saying the bug had been added to their database. Whether or not a patch has attempted to address it, they are at least aware.
