The times I did do that were either bored to the end ( from a certain point) or bored for a long time untill I found another goal to achieve.
I do want to mention that one of my most fun runs, which was before RC was trying too stay a Duke untill the end.
I achieved that untill the late 1300's but couldn't resist to conquer west-Europe.
Another great run was going around with random characters after each had died, sometimes his/her heir because they literally died after two days :D.
You can't do that in ironman though but those are very fun nevertheless.
My "standard runs" often make it to 1100/1200's but a lot don't.
It's a blessing and a curse to be able to set your own goals. :D
If you really want to make it through too the end, either try to set up a goal that poses a real challenge, so you can keep engaged or simply grit your teeth and keep going to the end.
I personally have found no other options but those two.
I do wanna note that when the run is over, it's just that; over...
Ck2's ending with the score was not specteculair (too easy to gain points, players would get 100x the score of what was the 1st place(without even trying)) but at least it was something.
CK3's ending is.... unsatisfying... to say the least.
I do want to note that CK3's boring phases are more event full then CK2's boring phases but in both games mid-game is doable but end-game seriously lacks challenge if you don't set up those challenges yourself.
Having said all that :).
If you really seek a challenge try multiplayer.
Make sure everyone has a somewhat equal start and race to be the last player left.
That'll keep the blood pumping.
Took about 30 gameplay hours.
A family feud with the Karlings makes for an interesting game from beginning to end... it also keeps your reigns pretty short and you need to get and keep fecund early on. :)
At maximum speed it takes 4 to 5 hours uninterrupted to just pass the time. So at an uncomfortable pace, I think the fastest you could go without outright losing would be about 10 hours accounting for pauses and the need to marry and stuff. Would not be fun though.
