In a sense, I do like the Danger it poses and the purpose of it is that it's supposed to be an absolute kick in the balls to you when it happens. It adds a challenge that can be really interested if implemented correctly.
However, I do think this kind of event that has a major consequence is too random for my liking. This kind of decision should come up after an array of risky decisions made, for example of you take more risky routes when traversing through your realm, or more risky decisions during duels or when that event comes up when your Physician asks you to try a new substance and it has a great risk.
I think after 3 or 4 risky decisions, then this 80% chance of death event should come up, that way I have nobody to blame but myself since I kept taking risky decision after risky decision. I hope the Devs implement this kind of approach instead of relying solely on RNG.
The satisfaction you get from CK3 is seeing your family and domain get bigger, richer and stronger due to the correct choices you make, not having random chance regress your power 50 or 100 years back for no reason whatsoever and without you being able to alleviate the consequences in any way.
