For ♥♥♥♥ sake, let me choose my secondary sons as beneficiary in crusades.
I have 3 sons and no valid beneficiary. I tried to disinherit them but still doesnt work.

To become a beneficiary, they still have to be part of your dynasty.
If you disinherit them, they won't be able to become a benefciary.

Most often, it's unmarried women of your dynasty (if you have normal rules on).

The rule is 1.) member of your dynasty 2.) not in line to inherit anything.

From the wiki: "Characters of the attacking Faith who pledge military support can also choose a Beneficiary, an unlanded and non-heir character of their Dynasty who will receive titles in the targeted Kingdom proportional to their War Contribution. "

Why should they not be able to become beneficiary, they are still part of the Dynasty, there is currently no interaction, who can remove a character from a Dynasty.

And that women are able to be selected as beneficiary is probably a bug for male-dominated faiths.

I do not know the code, so aiming such questions at me is moot. Ask a developer that.

It's not a bug.
Disinheriting doesn't remove the heir from having claims to the land. So maybe that counts against them?

For a male beneficiary, you need a LOT of sons versus very little land.

For a female beneficiary, they don't inherit anything "naturally," so it's much easier for them.to grab land as a beneficiary.

All I know is you need to check two boxes. 1.) Unlanded. 2.) Not inheriting.

The beneficiary cannot be attached to any title in this regard.

Checking the code in religious interactions:

1. Must be a close family dynasty member, including different houses (for distant dynasty members, only house heads are valid)

2. Cannot be heir to any title (i assume that disinheriting is a global effect, otherwise he could still be heir to a title of his mother, grandparents etc.)

3. Must be adult

4. Must not be a ruler, nor married to a ruler

5. Must not be excommunicated, incapable, devoted, realm priest, or have a serious disease

6. Must not be busy in events (?)
