How to win the first crusade in Jerusalem?

The Christians always lose whenever the pope calls a crusade despite having 4:1 odds against Jerusalem. I've played countless loads now and It always ends up losing

I always try to steer the crusades toward Iberia, it’s a lot easier to win there.

It's not just Jerusalem. Practically every crusade is a failure.

It is very difficult to win until you are strong enough yourself to win the war.

It's hard to get 100-200k troops and not go bankrupt. At this point you probably own half the world. What's the point of crusading then?

The enemy during a crusade is usually a disorganized mess of levies. You could take them out with a full contingent of MaA and knights with a strong commander. This isn’t usually the case with the first crusade but might be. By the 2nd or 3rd you should be able to push your side to victory without a lot of issues.

try taking 4 or 5 stacks of Onagers and an organiser. You'll be surprised what you can do with it against the doom stacking AI

Crusades in this game are a joke..
Even if they do succeed, with the way the beneficiary system works most of the rulers will be crusader queens and other degenerates..
Cant even become the Prince of Antioch when playing as Bohemond...

The defending AI makes doomstacks, while the attacking AI doesn't group up. Thus the attackers get massacred.

I leave Jerusalem to the AI to fight the armies there and I target Egypt, capture the capital then move up. I never lost a crusade doing this.

You don't half of the World for 100K Troops.

Bohemia can deliver this amount of Troops very quickly, if you know how to build the Duchy correctly.

And of course, when your Ruler is an Military Genius, because in CK3, stats are everything.

Absolutly true and it is a shame for the CK3 Devs, because KoH2 has working crusades, who are mostly successful, if the Pope don't declare a Crusade against a Big Kingdom, against a small Kingdom, Crusades in KoH2 are always successful.

In my most recent game the pope called a crusade for Leon, and we outnumbered the muslims with 250k troops to their 100k. The friendly AI just split the armies into tiny bits and kept embarking and disembarking, getting destroyed by 20k deathstacks. Half the armies were in the sea, and the other half were running away from my battles that easily could have been won if they joined in. It's honestly making the game unplayable due to rage.

My original post was yeeted and deleted, but I had bad internet at the time so not sure ot even went through xD.

I have had a love hate relationship with crusades.

The whole supply mechanic makes allied forces cowardly.

There's a mod that let's you take control of allied forces, but I think xk3 should add a "central command" feature or definitely fix supplies is handled.

I had to cheat a few times and buy the entire mercenary roster to fight crusades

I won all crusades called as king of england.

https://pasteboard.co/9y2KcYO59xgZ.jpg it's not easy when you're a duke let alone a count. AI in crusades will only do 40% of the work you must do 60% if not more to win it. I have my family as ruling body of Jerusalem and some in Spain. I have defeated stack of 60,000 troops with this army, I usually toss in couple merc bands. It probably helps my character is great military leader and intelligent even if he does love to drink

Also depart early... don't wait until its called. You should be first army to arrive but wait on boat for blue stacks to arrive.
